String's Easy BREEZE-Y Carnival Girl Review

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the great review! I finally set sail in 20 days! I've only been counting down for 555 days! I've read so much about Schwartz over the last year. I feel like I know him already; I am so excited to meet him!

Well I caught the snarky comment regarding platinum anddiamond cruisers. Too bad fryee39 that youdid not read further as the OP stated below:

“Anotherthing that threw us for a loop (and really it's our fault I guess) is thatamongst all the junk mail that we typically get in our cabin (spa offers, etc),we got a paper informing us of the NEW free for all debark tag procedure. Wewere SUPPOSED to go to the Red Frog at a certain time and grab the zone numbertags we needed. We didn't know this though, until around 3:30 on the day theywere given out so we ended up with zone 22. Fortunately, we had some leftoverzone 1 tags from a previous cruise that we were able to use instead. Because ofthose zone 1 tags, we were able to get off the ship by about 8:30 and were onthe road by 9ish. We figured that it was fine because A) who was it going tohurt ANYWAY? and B)on our next cruise, we'll be platinum so we'll get toembark/debark early ANYWAY”

Too badOP does not practice what she preaches. OP doesn't follow the rules and feel entitled because she will be platinum next cruise.

No I amnot a platinum or diamond cruiser and will probably never be. I just find it odd to make such a commentthen go on to state B)on our next cruise, we'll be platinum so we'll get toembark/debark early ANYWAY. Otherwise Iam enjoying the review.

Wait..what? Ok. I am genuinely confused here. I didn't say or act like I felt entitled because we're about to turn platinum. Where in the (bleep) did you get that from? FFS..it's not like we were collecting Zone 1 tags and selling them on Ebay or something.

BoDidly--thank you.

Camijo-you're welcome.

You did not say it...you typed it:

I read your post as absolute entitlement. BTW it would have been fine if you just debarked with Zone 22 as well. It would not hurt anybody AND you would be following the rules...just saying.

FWIW, we should have paid more attention to the junk mail in our cabin every day.

If it seemed like I was acting entitled or whatever, that was NOT what was intended.

Yes, if we were a normal family with a normal, neurotypical son, disembarking in zone 22 probably would've been fine. Especially on this trip, when it seemed like debark was going faster than normal and starting earlier than usual. However..we are not a normal family with a normal, neurotypical kiddo. There are days when I truly wish we were because life would be probably be smoother than butter off a bald monkey's butt.

Going on vacation with an autistic kiddo, whether it is on land, sea, air, wherever, is always..well..interesting. Embark and debark are the hardest parts of the cruise for him. He is eager to get on and get started with his vacation (as we all are) and when it's over, he's just as eager to get into the car and just go (as most of us are not). So waiting around until zone 22 was called could've been..well..interesting. And potentially not fun for anybody involved, if he had a meltdown. We are always trying to avoid meltdowns whenever possible, but some situations make it very difficult for us. Debark is one of those, since you're crowded into only a few areas of the ship and there's really nowhere we can take him that's not loud, crowded and just sensory-wise overwhelming.

And yes, before anybody even asks, we have tried carrying our luggage off ourselves before. It didn't end well. We were waiting to be called to disembark and waiting in the lido buffet while my husband went outside for a few minutes to watch the ship pull into port. My son had a massive meltdown over the fact that it was crowded, that our luggage was with us (it was the only time we'd done that so it wasn't part of what he considers 'routine' when we sail and breaking routine tends to freak him out) and that my husband was outside, out of sight and earshot. I was sitting with him at a table, just trying to drink a cup of coffee and chill out when he started having a meltdown. A big one. I did my best to try and help him calm down, but he wasn't having any of it. At one point, an older couple came over and started berating the both of us--my son for 'throwing a hissy fit' (as they saw it) and me for not spanking the daylights out of him to make him stop. I wanted to melt into the floor because I was so embarrassed. As I'm sure my son was also. The older he gets, the more aware he becomes, I think, of JUST how embarrassing having a public meltdown is.

Yes, I agree. We should ask for the "I love you" to come back. It was fun, entertaining. I joined in saying it to strangers in the elevator. I can see some people may be a little annoyed, but seriously its not that bad. I'm annoyed with all the photographers on my way to dinner. Carnival is not making them stop. Sometimes we are all annoyed with stuff. I thought it got people to open up and be friendly. What's wrong with that!

To the OP. I'm platinum. I was not offended by your comment at all. :):)

One of the perks, as we have discovered, with YTD is that there are no photogs in the dining room. An annoying table magician sometimes, but that's it.

I should've been more clear or at least found a way to say what I wanted/needed to say without offending anybody. If I offended anybody, I'm sorry.

Photographers use to annoy me. But anymore I embrace them. We grab screenshots of the pictures via the App. Yeah it has the Carnival water mark so we would never print them, but fun to have none the less.

Once we get on board and can get into our room, all our tech (phones, tablets, etc) except my e-reader goes into the safe and doesn't come out until the night before disembark so we can charge everything up for the drive home the next day. My husband TRIED using the Carnival Hub app on one of the sea days and just didn't care for it.

IDK if I posted it in the OP, but we had Bottomless Bubbles this time around because my husband wanted to check out the program. I can honestly say (and I don't know what anybody else has said/thought about this) that I thought it was just OK. We never had problems getting cokes from any bar that we went to, except maybe the casino bar when it was super busy. Our waiter had our preferred drinks (Coke for DH, root beer with no ice for DS and a Diet Coke for me) ready for us when we arrived in the dining room each night, which was nice. :-) And we used the free tumblers that came with the program (or else Hubs purchased them separately, I forget which right now) and they kept our drinks really cold. We'll definitely be taking them on our July cruise, but I don't know if DH is going to purchase Bottomless Bubbles again. My son tends to take all day drinking ONE coke and I probably gained 5 lbs alone from all the Dr. Peppers I drank throughout the course of the day/evening (usually between 6-8 per day. I kept count, just out of curiosity more than anything). I think it's a good value for the price, though.
