Past Guest assigned cabin?

We booked for my third cruise using a PG offer. We were told that you only get assigned cabins and cannot go guarantee. Does anyone know if this is always the case?

Also if you did have an assigned cabin have you ever been upgraded? TIA

We were married aboard the conquest two weeks ago.We had an assigned cabin and was upgraded from a cat 8 to cat 11 about two weeks before departure.

DH and I have also gotten an upgrade off of an assigned cabin - we went from a 6D to a 12 about 3 weeks before sailing.
