satchimosmom Posted June 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2018 Can’t believe I have yet another question. Anyone ever taken their wheelchair/power chair on a cruise/land tour? I’m planning to take my power chair on my July 9th Alaskan cruise with NCL. I’ve never traveled with it other than tossing it in my vehicle for shopping trips with my grown daughters and to Disney World. And you guys have answered so many questions for me regarding the airport/plane and batteries. But it just occurred to me that once we’re off the ship in Seward, we’re taking a four-day land tour. The transportation will involve a bus of some sort, as well as a train. My use of the power chair is part-time. I need it primarily because of chronic conditions that cause extreme fatigue, especially if I’m walking and standing. So, I was planning to not actually use the chair during the land tour but rather just rely on my forearm crutches for support during that time. I’m thinking there’s probably no issue stowing my foldable chair under the bus. And I’ll just take it into the hotel rooms disassembled. My big question is about the train. Because, as I understand the itinerary, the train is a one-way ride. Will they have a place to stow the disassembled chair (two pieces) or would I need to assemble it? I’m beginning to think bringing my chair is way too much trouble! Thanks in advance for any information or advice!
