Refundable...they mail you a check or give you cash if you go to guest services before disembarkation.

Non-refundable...it's gone.

Non-refundable OBC is usually the result of a booking promotion.

You can get a printout at Guest services. In theory, the self-serve printout at the sign and sail kiosk should also tell you, but sometimes all info is there and sometimes not.

How do you know if its refundable or non-refundable?

 

Looking at your folio in the hub app will tell you how much of your credit is refundable versus non.

I know, but could someone explain what is meant by the kiosk and how one cashes out OBC? I will admit to having never gone into the casino on a cruise (bc of secondhand smoke) but if you can get cash for you OBC by doing so...

Think you need to check with Mastercard. Mine was refundble. That was three years ago i stopped using this card as it was worthless

In the past almost all OBC that was not directly provided by Carnival as some sort of a promotion was refundable. They have changed all kind of credits (sometimes even a refund of your own money) into nonrefundable OBC now. And they deny there have been any changes. Their reps say "it has always been that way".

I asked JH about this once and he agreed it was wrong and said he would look into it. Must be still looking.
