Dspcentury Posted June 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2018 I will be doing my first cruise with Dialysis at Sea I would like to know if anyone has experienced this program before. Everything that I seen and heard are great but wanted to see who online has had the experience. Ozy71 Posted June 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 28, 2018 As someone who has got some experience with Dialysis, a while ago. I have seen it in operation on board and was very impressed. If I had to back on, I would not hesitate to use the service. Best of luck. John
Janet524 Posted June 28, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 28, 2018 When DH was on dialysis we used Dialysis at Sea on about 6 cruises over a 3 year period. We cruised on Allure and Oasis as well as on Celebrity and HAL ships. The care and attention he got on the D@S cruises was better than at his dialysis center at home. Their procedures for securing the medical data needed are efficient. The staff on board that provided the dialysis service were excellent. There was a meeting for all dialysis passengers at the start of the cruise where procedures were reviewed and any questions answered. Fortunately DH no longer needs dialysis, but I would not hesitate to recommend them. Our experiences were always excellent. Hope this helps. If you have specific questions I would be happy to try to answer them. Sent from my Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70F using Forums mobile app
karmacats Posted June 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 28, 2018 See post #8 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2258706&highlight=Dialysis That was my post from between my mom's first and second dialysis at sea cruises. : ) we've since gone on a second one, and have a third planned for this fall. The summary from the link above holds true for her second cruise - the procedures were the same and her care was excellent. The only difference is that the cost per dialysis session has gone up slightly (i think $25 per). If you have specific questions, please let me know. I think it's a wonderful service and my mom is sooooo thrilled to be able to cruise.

Janet524 Posted June 29, 2018 #8 Share Posted June 29, 2018 No special embarkation perks. You board just as any other passenger. You will receive documents from Dialysis at Sea that will include info on where and when to meet the staff and other D@S passengers. It is usually right after the muster drill. At the meeting they will explain procedures and then escort everyone to the area in the medical center where the dialysis will be done. The whole operation is very well run.
