Supertec Posted June 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2018 Hi Does any know if NCL would allow us to go ashore in Hellesylt if we don't have reserved a cruise tour with the company? Thank you for your help!
wdsted Posted June 28, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2018 It’s just another port stop, so for sure you can get off the ship. Is there something different from every other port? Sent from my iPad using Forums
lj77346 Posted June 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 28, 2018 You might want to check with NCL as Hellesylt is a port that is used for shore excursions that will meet the ship in Geiranger. Since the ship does not stay in Hellesylt for the day the rules for leaving the ship there may be different than other ports - you need to get to Geiranger to get back on the ship. Level six Posted June 28, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 28, 2018 Plus, on the July 15th cruise, we are only there 1 hour. I am pretty sure it is to just allow those on NCL land tour off......but, you never know. I also think it is a tender port, so there is no way they could let 2000 people off and back on again in 1 hour. Impossible.
casofilia Posted June 29, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 29, 2018 Hellesylt is a tender port according to NCL.com; see the bottom part of https://www.ncl.com/nz/en/about/accessible-cruising I believe that the call is just to let people off who want to "make their own way" to Geiranger. That is usually on an NCL shorex.
Blocks Posted June 29, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2018 It wasn't a tender port when we were there on Jade in June 2017. Some people got off and wandered around and then came back onboard, but there wasn't much in the immediate vicinity of the dock.
Supertec Posted June 29, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted June 29, 2018 Thank you all for your responses, I will contact NCL to clarify this point. I don't want to book a private tour and see they wouldn't allow me to go ashore...
Supertec Posted June 29, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted June 29, 2018 FYI: Just called NCL and they would allow to go off the ship in Hellesylt if presenting a private tour confirmation at the main desk.

Good to know. Are you planning to just take a tour to Geiranger? With who?
