Point Loma Cruiser Posted June 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2018 Taking our granddaughter on Disney Bahamas Cruise. Questions about renting equipment for our day on Castaway Cay. Can you rent snorkel gear, floats, etc. when you're on island or do you have to sign up for this ahead. We're planning on a parasailing adventure for the grand, perhaps stingrays for us all. Don't know how much we can fit into one day.. any advice is welcome. Thanks.:D
Capt_BJ Posted June 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2018 floats and snork gear are plentiful and you can get if/when you need. The stuff like para sail is best reserved ahead of time. Hint on the floats … many rent, few return. Later in the day these will be floating unused all over the place . . .
moki'smommy Posted June 30, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2018 Snorkel equipment, bikes, floats, and rafts are plentiful and can be rented on the island at the same cost as advance reservations, but you can't get the combination package on Castaway Cay. You don't say how old the grand is--parasailing has age requirements. That and the stingrays will usually need to be reserved in advance. Remember that high winds or rough seas can cancel excursions. As to how much you can do....it depends on what you want. You can easily do one morning and one afternoon "big thing," but that doesn't leave much time to hang out on the beach. Some people snorkel for 30 minutes, some for hours. If you plan a morning and afternoon activity, I'd save the rental for an "on island" decision. Our granddaughter is a month short of 14. The person I spoke with at Disney said she was OK for this activity. It makes this grandma a bit nervous but she says its something she's always wanted to do -- and if you can't trust Disney to take care of your kids, who can you trust:o

And that's another point--if you schedule parasailing in the morning and it is delayed till the afternoon, it could interfere with your afternoon activity. RCI Cruisers 004 Posted July 4, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 4, 2018 If anyone is a runner/walker, there is a 5K fun run on CC. You meet onboard around 8am and the run starts around 9am ish. It’s a fun run/walk and you get priceless medals when you finish.
