afto Posted July 3, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2018 DD is insisting on a beach day on our Adriatic/Italy cruise next year. We sail from Venice to Rome calling at Koper, Rijeka, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Malta, Catania, and Naples. She has suggested Malta for the beach day, but I am wondering if anyone can make any suggestions about whether Catania would have any good options. Sand or pebble beach would be OK, snorkelling would be a bonus, and we would want something not too far from the port, preferably with lounge/umbrella rentals. And washrooms. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
AnhaltER1960 Posted August 6, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2018 If you look at Google Map satellite pictures you see plenty of sandy beaches to the south of Catania port, following the SS114, Via Presidente Kennedy. Might be a bit loud at times as Catania Airport is also located there (not sure how busy that is). And Google does not show the water quality right next to town. But there seem to be a lot of places where you can hire umbrellas and also do have facilities just a short cab ride, maybe 2 or 3 miles from the port.
