Shoppie124 Posted August 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Has anyone ever done the private tour option? Is it worth it? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
vamartha Posted August 6, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Absolutely! Worth every penny! We have done a private tour twice, just us (two) and the tour guide. We get to go pretty much anywhere we want that way and have successfully avoided the monkey tour both times! Our tour driver was Ben Hernandez both times, he usually drives the bus on a larger tour but we were able to request him for the day last fall. Look up their rating on Trip Advisor, it is stellar! arlodog Posted August 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 7, 2018 Yes! Just booked our 3rd tour with them. We love being able to go where we want and stay as long as we want. The drivers are very accommodating and know the island well. They will take you to the more touristy areas if that is what you want, or off the beaten path so you can see how the locals live. We have had them take us to grocery stores (we love to see what is in the local grocery stores around the world) and to small villages so we could eat the local food. Highly recommend! bubblegummermom Posted September 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2018 This will be our first cruise to Roatan. Looking to use Bodden Tours for the Best of Roatan tour which seems to be a private tour and totally customizable. We are looking mostly to spend time at West Bay beach, but also have a tour of roatan and try some local food. I have been in contact with Victor and he seems very accommodating in answering all my questions and the price seems reasonable. Looking forward to using this tour guide on our upcoming trip. Any input on what to see while on this tour would be greatly appreciated. I do not wish to stop at the monkeys. Thanks.
mkam2821 Posted September 10, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2018 Yes it is worth it. Very cost effective and you see what you want and don't have to be bogged down by others. We did it a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it

lifes-a-beach Posted September 10, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 10, 2018 We use the tour kind of like a private driver. Depending on what you want to do you can go pretty much anywhere. The very first time we booked it the driver spent some time driving through neighborhoods and such, just showing us what everyday Roatan looked like. Another time we had the driver take us to west end village so we could snorkel half moon bay (which was amazing) before hitting a local restaurant she recommended that was amazing. Another time we had the driver take us to west bay to one of the beach resorts. We spend a few hours there and had the driver take us to west end village to eat before we headed back. Next time we will have the driver take us to Temporary Cal’s for OMG good food. It’s a little more expensive than a cab might be but the personalized service makes it totally worth it to us.
