Reenie75 Posted August 7, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2018 We set sail Aug 25th :D I have never been to Miami, we will have a shared shuttle with other hotels. Google says it is 25 mins away I imagine there is traffic & other pick ups but our pick up time is 9:30am... guessing we will get ther 10:30-11am Is this too early? MSC stated they dont open until 1pm? Is it a long wait? Any info would be great!
markf Posted August 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2018 If you are in YC they start boarding around 11 AM if not then figure closer to Noon --if you don't mind hanging around and waiting then getting there at 10 30 AM is what I would do. Passengers are coming off the previous cruise until about 9 30 AM

markf Posted August 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2018 actually people are still coming off the ship as late as 10 30 AM--so there is little time between people leaving and the start of a new cruise

DMH15 Posted August 8, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2018 Everyone is different. Me? I like being one of the first on. Exploring, lunch, people watching. Getting settled. I am chilling as I watch others schlepping on. My friend is opposite. She arrives a day early but arrives to port after the rush, lunching elsewhere. She says it is much easier that way. Now I do Yacht Club, Haven, etc. but before I joined that club I waited with the masses. But I thought it was fun. max996 Posted August 8, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2018 MSC will start boarding incoming passengers as soon as the ship clears customs, which (as previously stated) usually begins somewhere between 10:30 & 11:00 AM. Only once during a cruise I was embarking aboard (MSC Divina) did they not start boarding until after noon. There was a tropical storm off the coast of Florida which made it particularly windy and the seas choppy in Miami, which delayed the arrival of all the ships into Port Miami that morning. Divina wasn't able to start disembarking passengers until a little after 9:00 AM, which had a ripple effect on everything else that day. I think we still left port at 7:00 PM though, but I didn't care at that point - we were onboard having a great time.

I feel my vacation starts as soon as I board the ship, so the earlier the better!
