Noise from O'Sheehan's on Deck 9 Jewel-class ships?

I was on Deck 8 about 10 cabins up the hall from O'Sheehan's, no noise. It never seemed too noisy walking through the bar/restaurant either.

Well technically you were much farther away. If you were 10 cabins up the hall, that means you had 20 sets of walls between you and the restaurant. On Deck 9 all you have is the floor/ceiling.

Anyone ever been in a Deck 9 cabin above O'Sheehan's on Jewel-class ships and been bothered by the noise?

Looking at 9110 on the Gem for an upcoming cruise, but it looks to be smack dab above the restaurant.

You do know the restaurant is open 24hrs. You probably will hear noise from gaming machines. Had a friend who's family had the worse cruise because they were the floor above the casino. I always avoid bars /restaurants above or below me to be safe. Also avoid fitness center and walking areas.

I've never noticed any gaming machines in O'Sheehans on the Gem

We stayed in 9123, which is inside, and requested another cabin our first night. We heard banging all night from what we could only assume was osheehan's. Thankfully there was an open cabin on deck 10 we moved to.

Guest services couldn't give us an answer as to the noise, but they came and heard it. Will never stay in that area again. 9110 may be more insulated, being it's a balcony, but I would say don't do it.

During certain times you will hear much more noise from the 7th floor Atrium as it is open all the way up to deck 9. While bands and other activities are going on in the Atrium it can be extremely noisy in O'Sheehan's.

They have a bowling alley, baskeball games, dart boards at the restaurant. very busy and you will not hear the noise on the same floor as the bar. you should get at least to 10th floor or 9th floor away from restaurants below you. Also with balcony room on 9th floor you will hear the noise from 8th floor outside areas. Not very relaxing on balcony

Osheehans on the Gem doesn't have bowling or arcades. We booked not over the restaurant, but what apparently is their kitchen. Gem also doesn't have outside deck areas on 8. Promenade is on deck 7.

Bowling Alley, Basketball games, if football games on tv people will be yelling.

I have been on the Jade and the Gem; they don't have any games, just a bar and restaurant. Maybe on the larger ships, but not those.

Actually, O'Sheehan's was not noisy at all.

Might I suggest checking & referencing the official NCL deck plans for the GEM to see what's there, above & below, and opposite the hallway, etc. for a little accuracy, LOL.

With reference to OP's question on the balcony, it is an excellent, mid-ship location and above the lifeboats, very unlikely for any noise to come from O'Sheehan's on Deck 8. Unlike the *.away class ships, there is no gaming action for mini basketball, video/arcade games or dart boards, etc. We're on the Gem last year and most recently this May. The mini bowling lanes were once inside the Bliss Lounge on Deck 7 AFT and they're taken out during the dry dock last year/year before, a handful of slot machine $$ remained there but hardly anyone played for donations there, as it's deserted and lonely.

Any noises reported to be heard on Deck 8 or Deck 9 typically would come from events, functions and the occassional activities held in the atrium lobby on Deck 7 midship ... we stayed once midship Deck 8 obstructed OV and the only late evening party noises came from the lobby on the last full night at sea, heading home for NYC ... all quiet after 11 to 11:30 pm.

Banging noises sometimes being heard, reported & complained about onboard - it seemed, no concrete evidence to prove/dis-prove - came from ship's mechanical/plumbing system. It was asked during one of our BTS tour when we're down below deck walking down I-95 corridor, "no, they don't use metal pipes to beat up the beef or pork chops to tenderize the meat as part of food preparation, LOL."

We're on the Jewel a few years ago and had a mid-ship balcony on Deck 9, portside and not too far from O'Sheehan's (Blue Lagoon then, 24/7) and it was quiet & not noisy at all.

If sea conditions and rough, parts of the ship's super-structure might squeak and make rubbing noises, metal-against-metal as it ride out stormy weather ... and, that you can hear from just about anywhere throughout the ship. Even empty cloth hangers inside the clothing closet are noisy.

Just got off of the Gem. No noise at all from O'Sheehan's. You can hear if it's really busy as you approach it, but we observed no noise from there that you can hear in your cabin. We were on deck 8 mid OV.

Will be on the Gem in less than two weeks. What did you think of her?
