ormy Posted August 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2018 Most European countries will accept the Euro, we have never used any other currency - even in Russia they accepted the Euro
Miller Cruiser Posted August 26, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2018 Montenegro uses Euros. Some places in Croatia will accept Euros, but many will not, particularly any government run tourist places. When we were there on the Celebration in June, we just changed some Euros as and when we needed to. There are many foreign exchange places in all of the tourist spots. Manchester is blue Posted August 26, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2018 We have just returned from a week on the Celebration on the Greek Mystique itinerary. Incidentally we really enjoyed it, and visited some beautiful places, particularly Kotor, which we thought was quite spectacular. Anyhow, yes, both Croatia and Kotor in Montenegro readily accept Euros, so you you should be fine. However, you may well wish to get some Kunar as smaller shops in Croatia may only accept their own currency.

Vitalsign Posted August 26, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 26, 2018 The taxi from the port into Dubrovnik old town can be paid in euros but not the bus The cafes in the old town only take local currency and we had to pay by card The cafes in Split wouldn't take euros so we changed some money at a cash point Kotor we were able to pay in euros where we went but can't say this would be everywhere
Malleykatt Posted August 26, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 26, 2018 From the port of Gruz to old town Pile Gate they advertise €13 for a taxi. For €50 you can hire a taxi for an hour sight seeing drive across the bridge and back and then up Mount Srd. They will then drop up at Pile Gate. For the cable car and the walls they only take Kuna or credit/ debit cards. Some stores show prices as Kuna and Euro but only take kuna. The euro is to give you a price guide.in Montenegro the official currency is Euro so no problem.
jvtravel Posted August 26, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 26, 2018 We were in Dubrovnik 4 weeks ago on Venetian Vistas cruise. We bought ice creams in the old town and had to use Kuna to pay. When the french tourists served before us tried to pay with euros, they were refused and the lady serving took the ice cream back ! Taxi from the port charged in euros though. WeeCountyMan Posted August 26, 2018 #10 Share Posted August 26, 2018 Acceptance of Euros in Croatia is very patchy, as mentioned above.
msk1955 Posted August 28, 2018 #11 Share Posted August 28, 2018 If you pay in Euros in Croatia you may well get your change in Kuna, so not the most economical way of doing things.
