Dumb Blue Chip Question

This is going to sound like a stupid question but can anyone who has sailed since the Blue Chip Club changes came out confirm the following...

It the beverage package already added to your account when you get onboard or do you have to wait to get a "sticker" or something when the casino opens? Just wondering if I will be able to enjoy my regular getting onboard cocktail. I am Sapphire and sail out on Saturday :)

It is my understanding that the drinks through the Blue Chip club are only offered in the casino, which will not be open until after they set sail. So my guess is, no, it won't be available to you when you first board.

Not a dumb question at all. Just back from Eclipse cruise myself and also Sapphire. You will have to wait until casino opens to get your card stickered to use throughout the ship. Remember though, you'll have Michael's Club access and will be able to get drinks there throughout the day until casino opens.

Bon voyage!

Excellent! Thank you so much for the helpful info (no asian pear smashes at Sushi on 5 for lunch though...)

Not a dumb question but it is a dumb policy by Blue Chip.

Our next trip is on the 12/30 sailing on the Edge and booked under casino rate so no perks combinable this time. I am Sapphire and they know this as they print it on the card. I’m not sure why they can’t address this at check in. Also, they still don’t have an agreement with Celebrity corporate about the Retreat Lounge on Edge class ships so I’m not even sure I will be able to grab a beverage there. I dread the headache it would cause if I just ordered drinks and tried to get guest relations to remove them once I get the sticker? Not sure if anyone else has also ever had the joy of looking for the host when the casino opens and they are nowhere to be found so you end up trying to track them down for a few free drinks. It’s not a policy commensurate with the other benefits/status they apply to Sapphire.

How do you know what level you are ? My wife/I got an invite on our last cruise she signed up and we never heard anything.

You can call them at 866-461-7170.

With the new rating system everyone who plays any amount is in the club but they are now many players at the Pearl level.

It seems to me like the last thing Blue Chip needed was more members for them to keep up with.

Edit: I didn’t mean to imply you and your wife are low level players just letting you know why you may not hear anything. They were overwhelmed/understaffed before the new rating system.

This is from the Celebrity website...

“We are developing a web portal for you to check your tier and expect it to be live by the end of 2018. In the interim we will be happy to assist you directly from the Blue Chip Club Office at BLUECHIPCLUB@CELEBRITY.COM, or 866-461-7170 Monday thru Friday from 9am – 7pm est.”

It may be possible to get your sticker prior to waiting for the casino to open in international waters. Check the Daily to see if the casino has an event occuring on embarkation day such as spinning a wheel for free play, free gaming lessons, etc... The host is usually around during those activities and you can get your sticker and playing card then. Also, attend the casino gathering on embarkation day. The invite with the date and time should be waiting for you in your cabin. If these suggestions don't work, then you should still enjoy your favorite beverages anyway because as a Sapphire player you can ask for charges like that to be comped off your bill--of course as long as your play warrents it for that cruise.

Good Luck!

The same message was there last year and said it would be live by the end of 2017.

I'm assuming that if you're Sapphire but your spouse in the same cabin isn't, you both still get to use Michael's Club. Anyone know if that's correct?

Thanks for all the info, maybe I can get the sticker in Michael's Club, I'm planning on upgrading to Deluxe...

Also glad no one thinks it's a dumb question, I just like to ease into my holiday with some cocktails ;)

Yes, spouse and any other cabin occupants I believe. There really isn’t a written policy but my wife, 3 year old son, and myself are always welcomed in Michaels Club. The staff are usually pretty happy to have a kid around.

Still really hoping they work something out for the Retreat Lounge on the Edge.
