Jack Staff Posted September 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2018 We chose the cruise offered by NCL although we have not used the line before (Celebrity is our current favourite) and did have some apprehension on reading these boards however the itinery/timing seemed to suit so we were willing to give it a try. We booked car parking with ABP at Southampton as usually you leave your car a short distance from the ship and luggage is taken from you as you park and the next time you see it is when it arrives in the cabin/stateroom. There was a slight difference this time as the car park was at City Cruise Terminal and Norwegian Jade was moored at berth 46 at the Ocean Cruise Terminal but we were instructed to board a free shuttle from the car park to the terminal. The Jade would moor at City Cruise Terminal on return to Southampton. We were delivered to the Ocean Cruise Terminal where we put our cases onto the conveyor and proceeded to the departure lounge. Booking in was simple and friendly and then we waited a short time to be called to go through security. Eventually we were on board (after the mandatory hand wash had been applied) and as the weather was good chose to sit in 'The Great Outdoors'. Around 01:30pm we were allowed to go to our cabin - as there were 4 of us (2 parents and 2 nearly twenty year olds) we had booked a mini-suite on deck 11 - under the overhang and above us was the pool deck. We were well pleased with the mini-suite as there was plenty of storage and it was adequate in size. Around 5pm the ship sailed away and there was music on the pool deck . We were followed by P&O Azura . An OK start to the cruise. We used the buffet for dinner and attended the late theatre show which was a review of acts that would appear both in the theatre and lounges.
