Need help with Salerno to Pompeii Plans

My family and I are sailing on the Disney Magic in June 2019 which includes a stop in Salerno. Disney has rarely visited Salerno, so I'm looking for information about the port. Specifically, we are interested in taking the Trenitalia train to Pompei to visit the ruins. I think I have the train part of it figured out, but I'm a bit puzzled on how to get from the cruise ship to a train station. I understand the Port may have a shuttle bus that transports passengers between the Port and the town. Can anyone share with me their recent experience with the shuttle or the availability of taxis (that hold 5 people) at the Port?

Based on my research, it looks like there are 3 train stations in or near Salerno: Salerno, Duomo-Via Vernieri, and Vietri Sui Mare-Amalfi. Vietri Sui Mare-Amalfi looks to be the closest to the Port, but I'm not sure where the Port shuttle takes passengers to.

At Pompei, it appears we should get off the train at the their main station and walk several blocks to the entrance of the ruins.

Does anyone have any thoughts or tips on taking the train from Salerno to Pompei?

Thanks!

It's certainly easy enough to do.

There will be a shuttle bus to get you from the berth to just beyond the port exit. Perhaps if you post on the Disney board you can find out exactly where Disney has dropped off in the past. Other lines have used Piazza Santa Lucia or Piazza Amendola Giovanni.

In either case, you will be within walking distance of the Salerno station (less than a mile). The Duomo-Via Vernieri station is closer, about a half mile (give or take depending on the exact drop off point of the bus) but it's much harder to find. If you're good with directions and a bit adventurous, go for it. Otherwise the main Salerno station is a straight shot, easy to find. Vietri sul Mare is about two miles away and uphill, it doesn't make any sense.

Once at Pompei you have a half mile walk to the Anfiteatro entrance or just over a mile to the Porta Marina entrance. If you want to join a guided tour or rent an audioguide you must use the Porta Marina entrance.

This map may help you get oriented to the Pompei area: http://www.unicocampania.it/files/mappe/pompei.pdf

The Trenitalia station is in quadrant D6.
