Wavelet Posted October 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2018 Looking at April 2019 Panama Canal itineraries and see the Emerald is doing a full transit through the ‘historic old locks’. Is this possible? I thought it was too big to go through them. (The same itinerary in 2020 says new locks).
BillB48 Posted October 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2018 You thoughts are correct! She will have to use the new locks.
Wavelet Posted October 8, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted October 8, 2018 Thanks, good to know. I was thinking of the Vancouver/FLL cruise, but if it doesn’t go through the old locks I’ll choose differently.
Safety Squirrel Posted October 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 8, 2018 April 2019 there are also cruises - full transit - with the Coral Princess or Island Princess. I believe they are doing the old locks/canal. Going from east to west and west to east.

Take a look at the map and you'll see. ;)
Safety Squirrel Posted October 8, 2018 #6 Share Posted October 8, 2018 The canal is more north to south or south to north. Take a look at the map and you'll see. ;) I was referring to the East coast (i.e. Florida) and West coast (i.e. California or Vancouver, B.C.) not the actual direction of the canal.;p
