katiecat Posted January 13, 2020 #201 Share Posted January 13, 2020 Thanks for the updated list! I made copy's for my smoking friends that I cruise with from all over and don't use CC. Encore will not be on my wish list. Thanks Again!
marktwothousand Posted January 17, 2020 #202 Share Posted January 17, 2020 What an unfortunate setup for the Encore, the outdoor smoking areas on other ships were among the best places to party and socialize. I am guessing pretty much everyone only goes in to the Encore room for a single butt and gets out...or do people hang out there with drinks for a few hours? Has the Encore softened its stance on allowing cigarettes to be smoked in the cigar lounge or is it still pretty strict? I have been on other ships with cigar lounges and a few of them have relaxed rules for cigarette smokers.

NewbieCruiser1231 Posted January 29, 2020 #204 Share Posted January 29, 2020 I do hope this is true for all future sailings. There's four in our group who smoke who are not real happy about our cruise next week. That would be great!!!

Someone posted a review of the Encore 1/26 sailing & also mentioned they had roped off an area on the pool deck for smokers as a lot of people were complaining about the smoking areas (or lack there of) they didn't smoke tho so not sure how they knew but they did see the roped off area w/ ashtrays and smokers so.... marktwothousand Posted February 4, 2020 #209 Share Posted February 4, 2020 Does anyone think this addition of an outdoor smoking area might not be a coincidence because of the infection control protocols? Maybe they decided enclosing a bunch of smokers in a tiny space with negative pressure and recirculated air wasn’t the best idea with a pandemic on the horizon
katiecat Posted February 13, 2020 #210 Share Posted February 13, 2020 The Epic didn't have us behind a glass section anywhere's on the ship. Now the Breakaway did last year this time near the waves bar. Hoping they are removing the glass it's bad enough that the section is to small for the amount of smokers. I think smokers should be allowed to lounge on the lounge chairs and relax like others. Just my option we pay the same.
NewbieCruiser1231 Posted February 18, 2020 #211 Share Posted February 18, 2020 Just got off the Encore on Sunday. Smoking was allowed in the casino when open on Deck 7, in the smoking box port side on Deck 8 (many were smoking outside the box on deck in front of it), and on the third day they opened an area on Deck 16 near the Waves bar for smokers. The Haven sundeck smoking area on Deck 19 was closed the first two days due to high winds but reopened when winds died down. The area on Deck 16 was glass on one side but open to pool area/Waves bar so that worked out fine. The smoking box on Deck 8 has no ventilation and was always crowded. NewbieCruiser1231 Posted February 18, 2020 #213 Share Posted February 18, 2020 Forgot to add that after the cruise, I sent an email to Norwegian about the smoking situation and received a response from them within an hour. Please keep complaining after your cruises about the restrictive smoking areas. That is only way it will ever be changed.
elwood_98034 Posted February 18, 2020 #214 Share Posted February 18, 2020 On the Joy you could use this door to enter the Haven on Deck 19 from the public sundeck Portside, and then use the smoking area forward by the hot tubs. The door was usually left open, and you could walk right in. You could also use the hot tubs, or whatever else you wanted in the Haven, except for the restaurant, and maybe the bar. No need to be a guest.
Doc Tom Posted February 18, 2020 #215 Share Posted February 18, 2020 Just off the Dawn 16 Feb 2020. The spreadsheet is accurate. Smoking allowed in small open-air area starboard side of Bimini Bar on deck 14 (always crowded, can be very windy). Also allowed in entire casino when casino is open. And staff rarely objected to cigarettes in Cigar Bar. Clearly there were more smokers than the designated areas could accommodate but staff were not unreasonable. katiecat Posted February 19, 2020 #216 Share Posted February 19, 2020 The epic cigar bar has a sign no cigarette smokers. They looked so comfy on those leather chairs with there feet up smoking cigars, I almost wanted one. I would take a lounge chair if they would let me relax and smoke.
Rare Greenpea2 Posted March 4, 2020 #217 Share Posted March 4, 2020 Just came back from the Bliss. Perhaps this has already been reported, but the smoking area on Deck 17 aft (Spice H20) has been expanded from just the small semi-enclosed area next to the bar to the whole bar area (except sitting AT the bar). There were a lot of smokers and having the overhead protection with a bunch of tables and chairs seemed to be much appreciated. I was told by a crew member that this was changed recently due to much complaints from smokers having nowhere protected or outside to go. I heard no complaints from the nonsmokers in Spice as it did not smell particularly smoky there--being in the aft it all pretty much wafted out to sea. Also, the casino smoking area is not small. It is stinky, but not in the main casino except when passing by and the door opens. The smoking area in the casino has many machines, some tables, and while always with a lot of people, there always were machines available.

Debbieg145 Posted March 4, 2020 #219 Share Posted March 4, 2020 If I pay premium for the Haven, I would complain about non-Haven paying people using the hot tub.

Be careful saying that. People will accuse you of being elitist. And if you say that you are pretty sure that they aren't Haven guests they will confront you and want to know how. When you say they don't fit the demographic because of their tatts, gold chains, hats on backwards, and stripper girlfriends they will go crazy. They won't care that you have never seen them anywhere else in the Haven for the entire trip, and the Haven is literally like a fishbowl.

Depending on the ship, there can be nearly as many Haven suites outside of the complex as there are inside of the complex. I agree that non-Haven guests shouldn't be in the Haven common areas such as the sundeck, courtyard, hot-tub, etc. but it isn't possible to know who belongs based solely on their appearance. I've never stayed in the Haven, but I have looked at the prices. You get what you pay for. If you didn't pay for the hot tub, you don't get the hot tub. (And I bet there are several strippers in there too!)

I have neither. My wife was never a stripper and I don't wear jewelry other than my wedding ring. However, I don't believe that someone who has tattoos, has a girlfriend, wears jewelry, or a hat is any less welcome in the Haven than I am. It's the non-Haven guests (smoker or non-smoker) that we can agree on that shouldn't be in the Haven.
