Dollars for Euros on Divina

Can I exchange dollars for Euros on the ship for a stop in Guadaloupe?  Or does anyone know if taxi drivers accept USD there?  I am wondering if I will be better off booking the excursion to the Club Med in St. Anne or taking a taxi on my own.

A contact on Guadaloupe tells me that dollars are not readily accepted due to the high cost of changing them to Euros, only a few places will accept dollars.

thank you.  I think a ship excursion might be best where it is all paid for on the ship beforehand.
