Booking return flights

Recommended Posts

What do you think is the earliest flight I can book? We will be docking in Port Canaveral at 7 a.m. and flying out of Orlando.

To be on the safe side I would book 1:00pm or later. Once you dock, the formalities have to be completed with immigration and customs before anyone is allowed off the ship. Sometimes debarkation starts early and sometimes it can be after 9 a.m. before the first passengers are on the way out.

Have you checked to see how many ships will be disembarking in Canaveral that day? How were you planning to get to Orlando from Canaveral? Shuttle? Ships transfer? Private car? Traffic will be heavy whichever way you plan to go. Once you are in your mode of transportation plan for at least 45 minutes to an hour to get to the Orlando airport.

Time of day will detarmine how long it will take you to get through the check in and security at the airport in Orlando. I have been there when the line was over an hour long and other times walked right through.

Give yourself enough time to return home with some of that happy "I've been on a cruise" glow :D It's bad enough when you have to unpack and do laundry! Enjoy the cruise and be prepared for the long return home.

CUTE PIC CHAR!!!

We fly American. American let's you go stand by on an earlier flight if there is room.

Therefore we book the latest "tolerable" flight to get home and then put our name on the stand by list as soon as we get to the airport.

We ususally get out on the next flight. (partly due to the fact that we are AA Advantage members too - we get pushed above those who are not)

This is just a suggestion for you to consider. If you think it might work for you I would call and check with your airline first (do they do early stand by) before you book.
