Scriv Posted November 25, 2018 #51 Share Posted November 25, 2018 We have just returned from a Marella cruise to Panama, where we were berthed at Colon and where there were several excursions on offer to see/experience the Panama Canal - one being actually on a ferry boat through two locks and others by coach and/or by train alongside the canal. Our excursion took us by coach along the Canal and out to the Bridge and into Panama City, as well as to the Visitor Exhibition Centre/Museum. I found this really fascinating as we were able to view the canal and a huge container ship going through the lock from a raised level viewing platform. As said before, this is not a substitute for the ship doing a transit, but if you do go to Panama, it is certainly worth going to see the Canal from a different perspective. Do not venture out in Colon itself!
