Currency for UAE cruises

Can anyone who has been on a recent UAE cruise advise best currency to take for the various ports of call, are countries UAE dirhams , are $ or euros widely accepted?

Generally speaking any hotel or store in the big malls and some traditional markets will accept your credit card granted it has world wide coverage. For the odd taxi or traditional market you'll probably use, UAE dirhams are the norm on those countries.

Off-topic question: Where can I exchange US-Dollar to UAE Dirhams in the USA. My local bank has no idea... and a online currency exchange service has a very high fee. Thanks for any advise.

Don't really know about USA... But generally speaking some land based exchange services might have UAE Dirhams... Do note though that UAE national bank forbids the trade of UAE Dirhams to international banks for exchange, so you'll need to exchange it locally at local exchange companies in the UAE. Exchange houses might have some from people who went there and exchange them afterwards, but it will be certainly in small quantities. Have a nice day!...  🙂

Nunagoras, thank you. Local currency exchange services are my last choice but maybe I have to use them. I try not to waste time searching to exchange some US-$ to UAE Dirham but rather focus on my vacation.
