Messina and Genoa cruise stop

Hi all, wondering what the must see sights are in Messina and Genoa are for a 1 day stop. Is it possible to walk to things from the port? We'll be travelling with 2 toddlers therefore everything takes twice as long... Any tips on getting around and advice would be great. Thanks!

 

Just realized I posted in the wrong Country and I dont' know how to change it... Advice is still welcomed!
