Has anybody ever hired a driver in Corfu? Or, any suggestion about getting to the Achilleion Palace? Thanks.

Never hired a driver there...

One time, we just rented a car...easy enough to get around the island...

Last time, we just took the half-day shore excursion...It wasn't much money...and worth the price...

Then we spent the rest of the day shopping in Corfu Town on our own...and eating lunch at one of my favorites: "Pizza Pete's"...

Seriously, the location is outstanding and unique...

Get a table by the rail...

When the waiters toss the bread over the edge, the fish put on quite a show...

That will be a big help since it is our first time in Greece and we are a group of 10. Did you go the Achilleion Palace?

We went to the Achilleion Palace as part of that shore excursion in 2003...

Well worth the visit...Here's someone else's photos I found on the web:

The Palace was actually built in 1892 by the Austrians...as incongruous as that sounds...it's an interesting history...

Actually enjoyed the excursion since it also afforded a nice overview of the island--which has some great scenery...

 

And, being only a half day morning tour, it left the afternoon open to wander the town, shop, eat...
