tupperny Posted December 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2018 We are cruising on Jewel next week and wondering when is the earliest that we can drop off luggage. We hoped that we could spend the day in Old San Juan. Thanks, Bill
Clarea Posted December 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2018 Sometimes they don't start taking bags until 10:45am or 11am. I would not try before 10:30am.
cruiseguy1016 Posted December 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted December 8, 2018 Another thing to consider is this. If you're going to drop your luggage off at the ship, consider checking in while you're there. If the line isn't terribly long, you might as well get yourselves checked in along with your luggage. Once you are checked in, you can get off the ship to go spend the day in Old San Juan. When you get back to the ship, there will be a separate line for you to go through since you will already have your Sea Pass. You will not have to wait in the same line as all of the others waiting to check in.

JT1962 Posted December 9, 2018 #5 Share Posted December 9, 2018 We were on the Jewel for the Dec 1 sailing and tried to drop our bags at 10:30. The baggage handlers were just standing around, were very rude and no one seemed to know what was going on as we were sent to 3 different places before being told to come back after 11:00. I’m not sure if this is normal or related to the strike issues we encountered on our return to San Juan on Dec 8. The cab driver suggested we drop them at Barrachino’s. He took us there, carried our bags to the restaurant, arranged a time to return and pick us up, including taking our luggage from the restaurant back to the cab, then dropped us at the ship. It worked out well for us and we had no wait to check in or in boarding the ship at 4:30.
