punknhead Posted April 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Hi All, Just returned from the Glory. I liked most everything on the ship except the packs of drunks (which Carnival can't help) and our malfunctioning air conditioning in our cabin (which Carnival never did resolve). Our teenager was so uncomforatable that she slept out on the deck one night. We also had sparks coming from the thermostat at one point. The AC guys passed it on to the Electrician who passed it on to the fire safety guys who...you get the picture. The pursor's deck was friendly enough and "understanding" but did nothing. I demanded to speak with hotel director, but was told he was either off or in a meeting. I spent more trips to the front desk than I want to count. We were offered a 10% off your next cruise letter. I told them that this was unacceptable, and they said that this is all they could offer on the ship. Has anyone dealt with a problem after a cruise? Am I sunk? Thanks for your help! Thatmom Posted April 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Hi, I have know answers but if this happens to me I'll have a fit. My nights are filled with hot flashes....not fun. must have AC. They won't know what hit them if this menopause granny comes at them (lol). Hope they do something that you think is fair... thatmom
bikeman688 Posted April 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2004 You should contact customer service at the main office & detail the problems. If you have names & dates to substanciate your complaint it would help. When I had a minor problem compared to yours I notified them & was given 10% off on a future cruise. In your case I would not settle for that amount.
stlrboo Posted April 5, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Write a letter basically stating what you said here, to Carnival Customer Service. The norm for a valid complaint is 15% off an upcoming cruise. Give it a shot if you think it's worth an extra 5%. One never knows what the Carnival 'fairy' may bestow upon you! StefanieMS Posted April 5, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 5, 2004 I think getting a discount on a future cruise is a joke. How many people use it, and how many book a cruise they wouldn't have because it is about to expire? They should give the 10% (or whatever) in a refund. No air conditioning for a week is unexceptable. Thatmom, If you were on a cruise with my mom and you both had no airconditioning....OMG I don't even want to think about it. The titanic comes to mind though Stefanie Cruise on the pride
GinaDucey Posted April 5, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 5, 2004 I would call the main office for sure - it would be different if they really tried to fix it instead of passing the buck. I also take it the ship was full and they could not switch your cabin? Yeah I would run this issue up the pole and get someone to salute. Good luck! chadby4 Posted April 5, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 5, 2004 We had a similar problem on the Ecastasy in October and were given 20% discount on a future cruise and $200 on our sign and sail card, and yes we have booked another cruise with it for the Glory in July and it saved us about $1300, by the way which cabin was it? steveaaaa Posted April 5, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 5, 2004 This past January on the Conquest I had a noise in the ceiling and it was so loud it kept us up.It would speed up and get louder than stop for a minute, ect, ect. I had a fit with the purser who had every department look at it and there was no way to fix it until dry dock was the answer I was given. I was in a cat6a (window). I informed them that I had to deal with my wife and it was not pleasant and I was thinking of using the guarentee and getting off at first port. They told me to wait and see if any cabins open up as they were all full. I was given a Balcony cabin on deck 10,drink credits, chocolate covered strawberries, and free champagne. Steve The squeaky wheel got the grease and boy did it squeak.
punknhead Posted April 6, 2004 Author #10 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Thanks for all your help! Did you all handle this through a phone call? Is a letter better? We had cabin 1032 on the Glory. We heard later that others on that deck had similar issues. We also had the lovely speaker system malfunctioning on Thurs. and heard the bell (always before an announcement) through the night, and at 5:30 (I think) a.m. It was a great location, and I paid extra to be up there near the kids club, etc.
echo Posted April 6, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 6, 2004 We were on the Glory last Sept when it was only a few weeks old. The only problem we had was that the music in the hallway stayed on all nite ,one nite and was loud. You could hear everything in our room. I'm a lite sleeper so I called the desk and asked them to turn it off and they said they couldn't find the IT tech, whoever that is. Anyway, the music played all nite but not the next nite. They did send us 4 drink coupons to our room, which was nice. I'd call and write. You should get more that 10% off. punknhead Posted April 6, 2004 Author #13 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Thanks! I think I will call and write! It should have been a big red flag when I booked. I had narrowed my choice down to two ships. Was told I could have a corner outside room on the Glory. After I cancelled my "hold" on the other ship and called Carnival to book the Glory, I was told the room only slept 2. The same PVP told us it would sleep 3. Said the computer made a mistake. Carnival again? I don't know... Thanks to all! Punk
Knights on the Beach Posted April 6, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Hey, I've got a question. Are there two lowers and two uppers in that cabin? Or two lowers, one upper, and one tiny sofa? Or none of the above? We have four boys booked in that room, but it doesn't look like it's a quad. Knights on the Beach Posted April 7, 2004 #16 Share Posted April 7, 2004 We also had a minor problem on the Victory (poor dining room service every night) and got a 10% off letter. I had no problem using it to get the discount off the best price I found for our Glory cruise next month. INCHARGE Posted April 7, 2004 #17 Share Posted April 7, 2004 I think I read on another post that they offered to move you, but it was late in the night. Your daughter and wife were sleep? It's a shame you didn't let them move you the next day, because they move everything for you and put it all back to similar area in the new room. Sorry you had the problem.
