gogogirl99 Posted December 11, 2018 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2018 We have a family of 5 with three teenage boys. Trying to figure out transportation from port. All of them want to go to Maho Beach and other beach time. Up for a little shopping and we are all foodies. Should we hire a private transportation or use a taxi in port? We arrive on an RC megaship and I'm concerned if we don't plan ahead we'll waste time in port to arrange. Also, looking for any other suggestions of beaches or places to visit. Thanks! Valiamo Posted December 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2018 If you just want to head out to Maho, just exit the port area and grab a taxi (Mini-vans)out to the beach. It will be the least expensive overall. On the way back, there are usually lots of cabs/Vans just waiting for passengers to take back to the ship. There is a bar/cafe at the south(left) end of the beach (where the cab will drop you off) Always a good thing to get a firm price on the rides cost before you get in the Taxi. Leave loads of extra time to get back to the ship, as traffic is unreal between Maho and the Port area (feels like every single car on the island is driving there at once) If you want to do some shopping, get them to drop you off in Phillipsburg, and then take the water taxi over to the ship ($6 a person for an all-day pass). We have also taken a Bernards Island tour (~$45 person) and saw all the sights both on the Dutch and French side of the island, with a shopping stop in Margot, stop @ Maho, saw the wild iguanas and Orient beach. gogogirl99 Posted December 13, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted December 13, 2018 There will be 10 ships in port according to cruisetimetables.com. Is that possible? Thanks for the info!

SnorkelAway Posted December 13, 2018 #6 Share Posted December 13, 2018 I see 6 ships on port schedule on December 26, 2018. Still lots of people. I do not think that 10 cruise ships have been at Philipsburg (at pier or anchored) at same time - but maybe it has happened.
