Enchantment of the Seas Review - December 2019

Just off a 4 day cruise to Nassau on EOS.  I've read the comments on here good and bad so thought I would give my updated review of what I saw and experienced.

My wife and I along with our daughter, her boyfriend and my sister and BIL shipped out on the December 10th to 14th cruise from Port Canaveral.

  • Starting with Check In -  As always it was quick and really easy. Probably on board within 20min with drink in hand.  Only took that long cause we had pictures taken and my daughter was looking for a lanyard.   We are Suite guests and I find there is no such thing as priority boarding since everyone is processed so quick.
  • Rooms were ready by 1:30 and bags were brought up not long after.  Except for my BIL.  He was called and told that he had to come get his bag since they were holding it for something.  I went with him and they had taken out a power strip he had brought to hook up his CPAP.   Word of warning.  Do not bring a power strip.  There were a lot of bags noted as power strip.
  • The wife and I both had the drink package which was really nice and worth the money in my opinion.  We could get specialty coffees, bottled water and of course any liquor drink up to $13. Anything over that we were charged for.   The thing I don't care for is the bartender giving me the receipt to sign to add more tips.  I already paid 18% in this package so it makes me feel bad just signing and scratching a zero in the line.  I did tip extra to a few.
  • Windjammer was packed the first day of course and thinned out just a bit the rest of the week.  We started going to Chops for Breakfast which was pretty good.   The Windjammer food was buffet food so don't expect too much.  It all seamed good but the hot food was usually not real hot.  I loved the French Fries.
  • We went to the MDR every night.  All the food we had was superb but again it could have been hotter.  The rolls they provide are good but too crunchy in my opinion (crumbs everywhere).  Thats about the only complaint I have about that.
  • The service was A1 in all areas.
  • People on here have said the EOS is run down an needs TLC.  I did notice a lot of maintenance (welding, painting, washing, repairs, ect..).  My daughters boyfriend was on his first cruise so we told him they found a crack in the ship and as welding it back together. :).   They were actually welding around a window.
  • We missed Coco Cay due to the weather so didn't get any update on the pier.  Not a big deal to me.   Spent an extra day in Nassau and that was fun.  All I can say about getting a Cuban Cigar is you won't get one in the Bahamas. A bunch of fakes.   Since we missed coco cay they reprinted day 2 but forgot to put on that it was formal night.  A lot of questions asked before we found out for sure.
  • On to checkout -  This is where the ***** hit the fan.  For some reason there was some communication errors with our rooms.  We weren't told or left a note letting us know where to be and when to get off the ship.  Only thing we were told is to be on deck 4, which is the wrong deck for suites.  So we spent and extra hour on the ship before figuring out where to be and where to go.   Once we got off the ship and made it to baggage my BILs small bag with his nebulizer was gone so he filled out a claim and we left probably about the last out the door.  Good God.  worst ever.

All in all, it was a great cruise but I probably won't be on Enchantment again just because we are looking at going other places.  If that ship is there, I wouldn't hesitate in booking her again.

Hope this helps some that are traveling on her soon.  If you have specific questions. feel free to ask.

Deck 4 was correct. Willy, the concierge is there before 7 for suites and Pinnacles. This is for carry off your own luggage. If you wanted to leave later, you just had to tell Willy and he would meet you to bypass the crowd. Willy is normally great about asking the last night in the concierge lounge, when do you want to get off the ship.

Hi! I'd love to know what you did in Nassau. I've never been!

I haven't been on EOS since since 2004, so I'm excited!

Thanks,

Michele

Hi Michele!   We have been to Nassau many times.  This my wife and I walked up to the John Watlings Rum distillery.   It was nice to take the walk and see the town and the distillery but I wouldn't need to do it again.  Not that into Rum.

Saw this on the walk back. It was a pretty area decorated for christmas.   There was also a winery there and GrayCliff Cigars.  We didn't stop at any of those.

I think the cheapest thing to do is to walk to Junkanoo beach and go for a swim.  There are food and drink shacks on the beach you can try too.  https://www.bahamas.com/vendor/junkanoo-beach

And if you like fish tacos, you must go to the Bearded Clam.  I love fish tacos and am very picky about getting a great one.  These are the real deal.. Awesome.  http://www.beardedclamnassau.com/

Look into a glass bottom boat tour or snorkeling around the islands tour.

Have a great time.
