Pride of Aloha Excursions

Hello my wife and I are going to be in maui from Aug 25 until Sep 1. We will then board the Pride of Aloha. We have looked at the excursions for the boat but they seem a bit pricey. I know many people have done some research on the excursions for all the ports for the POA cruise. We would like to get your opinions on excursions that are best done by yourself (and if at all possible the names of the tour that you booked and if you were able to book this ahead of time) and the ones that are good to do with NCL. Booking with NCL seems to be the most convenient because you easily book them before you leave and everything is all set, however this seems to come at a very high cost. Opinions and suggestions please!!!!!!
