Considering this excursion, or just the beach day at Blue Lagoon. My grandson is fascinated with dolphins. But I would like to hear if anyone has taken a toddler on this excursion. Were they afraid of the dolphins once they got that close to them? He does really good with stingrays up close, but a dolphin is quite a bit bigger 🙂

My 2 year old did a dolphin encounter in Jamaica.    They let parents hold children in the water, and there is no swimming.  My son liked seeing the dolphin, and he liked the dolphin kiss, but he was scared when the dolphin splashed him.  Maybe email the center to see exactly what they’ll do so you can prepare your grandson for it?   He might just want to do the part where the dolphin kisses him and then leave the pool.  Have a great trip!

I had something similar to KitKat, toddler loved the dolphin until the splash. Not all encounters involve getting splashed in the face, so you could ask beforehand for some warning (we had none). I also would look into if you will be standing on a “submerged platform” because sometimes these are very very slippery with algae and not nice when trying to hold a child and do the interactions. Others have you standing on solid ground and these have been better for us.
