gotscrapz Posted January 14, 2019 #52 Share Posted January 14, 2019 I loved your last review and was excited to see this new one. We too sailed the Vista last summer and ate now booked on the breeze for August... but I’ve been worried about shop cleanliness from other reviewers ... now I’m freaked! Did it get resolved and I missed it? I’d rather sail the Vista again but the price difference more than covers our airfare and hotel (which we would also with the Vista). i want to say you’re family looked great in formal night - I didn’t notice the small things but I’m in my phone! I was thinking what nice photos lol... I love your attitude and spirit and I also sail with just my teen daughter these days. I’m normally chill and roll with most things but cabin / hotel cleanliness is a must. I get seasick and wear the rx sea-patch and am nervous about movement ... though we went through a huge storm on the Vista and we all felt it but I didn’t get sick with the patch. How do you feel the movement compared with the Vista? Although if it was stormy you’re whole trip (dint know you’re in day 2 morning lol) could be apples and oranges. Excited to see your port experiences ... although costa maya is the port I plan to just veg st the pool like you ended up doing. The other days are going to be physical long days! Well if weather cooperates! Thank you for doing this review 😀
beccawes7471 Posted January 26, 2019 #53 Share Posted January 26, 2019 I am loving this review so far! Considering the Breeze next January, have never done Carnival....yet. Our kiddos sound so alike, we have a son 18 who is so mellow and chill and then our 9 year old daughter is like, wowza, exactly as you described your daughter:) Can’t wait to hear the rest, thanks for sharing! Butterbean1000 Posted January 26, 2019 #54 Share Posted January 26, 2019 On 1/9/2019 at 12:47 AM, Californiacruizers said: After lunch, we walked around the ship. We ended up in Camp Ocean. There were two staff members with handheld devices registering kids as they came in with their parents. Granted I registered Ellington up online upon booking, a staff member was able to look up information that I submitted online and asked about allergies. Since Ellington was now 6 she was now apart of the stingrays which is for children 6-8. The Kids were warned to be on the lookout for the Grinch Since we had FTTF Ellington would have been the pool by now however the weather in Port Canaveral was unseasonably cold. Now that pool time was out of the question we walked around the ship to kill time until the muster drill. I tried my best to snap photos as we wandered. Aft Pool The Sea Food Shack is located at the very back of the ship near the Aft Pool area Unlike the other specialty restaurant's the seafood is sold at market price. We did not try the seafood shack on the Breeze. However, tried it on the Vista and 2lbs of crab legs and 2lbs of shrimp cost me $54.00. I have to say it was the freshest I've tasted so far. Many many people rave about the Lobster Roll. It was almost time for the muster drill so we ran to the room to get our leis for the sail away party which is held out on the lido deck following the drill. My son Langston was too cool to wear a lei 🙂 However, my daughter Ellington was right on board Our muster station was B3 we were instructed to head to the Sapphire dining room for the drill. A staff member scanned each person's sign and sail card as we entered. Children were given wrist bands which they were to keep on for the duration of the trip, each wrist band was marked with the child's muster station. Note in the event of emergency children would be taken to their assigned muster station and reunited with their parents. I really, really hate they replace the Tandor for the Seafood Shack. That being said, I'll probably get the lobster roll on our upcoming Breeze cruise.

Acheavacci Posted February 6, 2019 #57 Share Posted February 6, 2019 Love the review and your beautiful family. Would you stay in the deluxe OV cabin again or did the cleanliness sour you on that category?

I ALWAYS book deluxe ocean views, since there are two restrooms it makes getting a family ready so much easier and getting off the ship at the ports much faster. Yes, I would indeed book another Deluxe Oceanview.
Californiacruizers Posted February 7, 2019 Author #60 Share Posted February 7, 2019 Upon returning to the ship we showered and got ready for an early dinner so that we would not miss the Christmas show later that evening in the Ovation Theather. Let me back up just a bit. Anyone who knows me will attest to the fact that I am not a complainer. I roll with the punches. However, there were so many punches thus far. -The tub in our room was not clean upon arrival on the ship -The TV in our room was not working properly, we were only able to get reception on a few channels and even then it would automatically start to change channels after about 3 mins of having it on. -The curtains in our room were heavily soiled -Our formal photos were ruined by people in the background and worn furniture -Dinner service was slow and the food was cold -My daughter's lobster on elegant nite was mush, our bread was burned to a crisp, and the overall dinner service each nite was a little over 2 HOURS I voiced all of my complaints to customer service, they apologize and said they would send someone to fix the TV and someone to see about getting the curtains cleaned. They were even nice enough to call the waitstaff manager to the lobby in the middle of the day to speak with me, he assured me that my experience in the dining room would better. SO......... When we checked in for dinner on night 4, Christmas Eve the wait staff were expecting us and we were seated in a special section near a window. We were assigned not one waite but TWO. They hovered over us and really went above and beyond to ensure that we had a positive experience. Each time anyone took a sip of water they would be right there to refill the glass before you even had time to place it back on the table. Dinner this night was only 45 minutes to an hour. I forgot to take pictures of the main courses and by the time I remembered, we were already on to the desserts. I had the grilled pineapple and custard. It was really good and fresh My son had TWO chocolate melting cakeS EVERY SINGLE NITE My daughter opted for the Jello After dinner, we saw Carnival's Santa in the lobby posing for pictures. We stopped for a few pics before returning to our room to change clothes. My daughter was going to be apart of the Christmas show in the Ovation theatre and we were so excited. Californiacruizers Posted February 7, 2019 Author #61 Share Posted February 7, 2019 Anyhow there was Christmas magic in the air. Lots of families wore matching Christmas Pajamas, many people dressed up, and there was just so much nostalgia that just warmed every part of everyone's heart. The children from Camp Carnival were seated with the camp staff on the front two rows. First up were Carnival's singers and dancers. They played a lot of the classic Christmas songs. The story of the Grinch was read and the Children from Camp Carnival took to the stage to sing a few songs. They passed the mic around to several kids, my daughter who wants to be a youtube and superstar was given the mic. She sang gibberish into the mic since she could not remember the words. I'm talking, " Gabab Labbba Fallllaaa". Having the kids participate was a really nice touch. As the kids were singing the Grinch appeared on stage and his heart was filled with Christmas Cheer and he returned all the gifts he'd stolen. That's my daughter on the end with the jeans and braids The Grinch After the show, my son went to watch a movie under the stars on the lido deck and my daughter went to Camp Carnival. I finally had a free moment to myself, which I used to buy the kids a few small gifts from Cherry on Top. Even though they'd opened their gifts before leaving home I really wanted them to have something to open on Christmas Day. I was able to return it to the room and hide it before the kids returned. We put on our Christmas Pajamas and off to bed we went.
