Casino Room Rate?

I recently received an email from Casinos at Sea stating to call with a promo code and get a special rate.  I called and it was a pretty good deal but you had to pay the full price up front.  That said can I choose the room of my choice or does it work like the guarantee room assignments?  Wait and see closer to sailing?  Thoughts? I did a lot of gambling while on a cruise with another line and now get regular offers for a free balcony cabin. I have never taken advantage of it because I figure there is a "catch"somewhere. My offers are from casinos at sea also.

We use free casino rooms or $ off casino certificates all the time and mostly get to select our cabin.  Hubby had to take a guarantee for the May cruise but it is almost sold out.  By the way he downgraded from his free JS to outside just to get on that cruise.  The second room we booked was only slightly better than booking online with RC.  We haven't found any catches with our certificates.

I haven’t had a gotcha yet. Sailed over New Years in a Grand Suite on the Adventure for six nights. Upgraded from a free balcony was about $600 plus port fees and taxes. Next month, sailing in a free balcony on the Brillance, for under $150, just paid taxes and fees. In March, same deal on Oasis though paid a small fee to upgrade to OV balcony to be near the grandkids.
