Cuba Visa (for Aussies)

Recommended Posts

Am looking at a Royal Cruise this May with an overnight in Havana.

The Cruise starts in Fort Lauderdale.

Has anyone done this cruise ? Will Royal sort out the visas ?

I know airports in Mexico and Canada sell visas at the airport,

just don't know about the Cruise Terminal, especially departing the USA.

Thanks.

Visas

You'll need a visa to enter Cuba.

If your visit is for tourism, you can get a 'tourist card', through your travel agent or airline, or through an Embassy or Consulate of Cuba.  The 'tourist card' includes a tourist visa.

In other circumstances, you'll need to apply for your visa through an Embassy or Consulate of Cuba.

Visa and other entry and exit conditions (such as currency, customs and quarantine regulations) change regularly. Contact an Embassy or Consulate of Cuba for up-to-date information.

Yes, you will definitely need a visa. We visited Cuba last year on a Holland America ship which left Boston and they provided the visa on board. I think it was US$40 per person, but can't be sure. They tell you on board if you don't have a visa, you will not be permitted to get off.

There is no facility to purchase a visa at the cruise terminal. If you want to purchase your own, you will have to do it on line before you go. We chose to go with the cruise line as it was just easier and less stress (but more expensive!).
