Any recent experience boarding in Callao?

If so, what is the deal?  Any advice?

I'm told that taxis will drop pax at the port gate and then there is a shuttle to the ship.  I've also heard of lengthy queues in the tropical sun while waiting to board.  Hoping to ease the pain.

Thanks...

Our experience from 2015 was similar.  Long wait at the port gate.

From a practical point of view I would suggest a tour before any attempt to go to the port.

We enjoyed the historical fortifications and military museums next to the port together with a cafe and toilets before getting into line. A sun hat and water bottles are essential, together with a measure of good humor and you should get  through the experience.

If any serious medical conditions are involved speak with your travel agent or directly with Oceania to see what solutions they offer.
