Carnival Ships too big for Tampa?

Interesting article on how the port of Tampa is handling larger and larger ships. Great photo of the Sensation too!

Wow. Up here in Baltimore I thought I had read where Carnival and the state of Maryland would work together to dredge out some waterway in the port so that more cruise ships could come.

I would really like to see some newer cruise ships sail out of Baltimore instread of the Galaxy or Grandeur of the Sea. Of course the Miracle will be here for a little while until she relocates to Tampa.

The Sunshine Skyway has been a curse for years. They can say what they want but Tampa will get hurt down the road as cruise lines are building bigger and bigger ships. This will leave Tampa to older tonnage.

I was really unhappy when they placed the Miracle there. The itinerary is not that great plus it only has that one itinerary. I have sailed out of Tampa once due to the fact that I lived less than 30 minutes away and I was not impressed at all. They have done a lot by adding Channelside but I doubt that I will cruise out of there again. IMHO nothing beats sailing out of Miami or FLL.

We loved cruising from Port of Tampa on Inspiration last year and Jubilee the year before. We really like the closeness of the port and the fact that our chauffeur, (Bruce's mom) can drop us at the pier and off we go. Hoping to cruise on Miracle sometime in the future.
