Greenock to Edinburgh

Hi everyone,

Can someone please give me some advice regarding getting from Greenock (where we dock) to Edinburgh.  We are a group of 8.  Ideally a private transfer to and from;  bonus would be a short tour once we get there, then time to walk around.  I appreciate your advice.

Thanks,

Nancy

Haven't used private tours, but would definitely suggest checking out Scot Rail. Trains from Greenock to Glasgow Central leave about every 20 mins and take 40 - 45 mins. From Glasgow Central to Edinburgh Waverley, trains depart about every 15 mins and take about an hour.

Edinburgh Waverly is on Princess Street and a short walk to the Royal Mile.

Greenock to Edinburgh will take a train to Glasgow then another train to Edinburgh. You’d have to allow at least 3 hours each way. Or you could book a mini bus but travel time depends on traffic and day. There are taxis at the dock with lots of different tours all at set prices.

Why not visit Glasgow or Loch Lomond instead? Both so much neater Greenock.

Is your ship not docking in South Queensferry, Rosyth or Leith? If so Edinburgh is only a 15-30 min
