Gambling/Slots Anyone?

Recommended Posts

I like to play the slots. I hear that there are quite a few machines to choose from and any denomination--mostly quarters. Have I heard correctly? Also..has anyone played and actually won on the ships? I am travelling on the Mariner in 3 weeks. Please let me know! Hoping for some jackpots! :p

Yes.... you heard correctly, BUT........ I've had no luck. It seemed that on our first cruise , I could play for a couple hour before finally losing $40.00 (my limit per night) Not bad for a couple hours of entertainment. The last cruise, I was finished in about 20 minutes on the quarter machines..... I wonder if the cruise ships are held to the same standards as Vegas ?

WOW! $10 is my limit per night.

At the first of the week, I do well and usually get back, plus some. Towards the end of the week, I always lose anything I have gained (unfortunately not the pounds :D ).

I used to work for a gaming company in Las Vegas. I actually put together those video gaming machines. (I'm a software engineer)

When I get home tonight I will compose a post for everyone so that you know exactly what is going on with slot machines - video, video/real reel spinning machines (called hybrid machines) , and strictly reel spinning machines. I will also enlighten about those progressive jackpots you see as well.

Bottom line is - choose a table game, learn it well, and play that!

while on the majesty this past december - even though i had a stomach virus my entire 3 days i managed to crawl out of bed while everyone else i was traveling with was eating dinner and play the slots

they even had penny and nickel slots................ i think i played a total of $30 on the slots in 3 nights and ended up winning $15 total for the 3 nights

Welcome to the forum dbdoll:)

Here's another gaming question - do the nickle/quarter slots on RCCL use US coins or tokens? And if you win do they pay off in coins/tokens, or those paper tickets a lot of US casino's seem to be going too?

They use u.s. coins or bills. And if I remember correctly, the larger jackpots a casino worker would come over and give you a slip to take to the cashier. I think the smaller ones paid cash, but that could have changed by now I guess.

I won $2000 on the first night of our Radiance cruise last February - I remember the machine, it was right inside the entrance and it was Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve....not sure if it was just me - but this machine appeared to be paying out all week.

I took the money and headed to the nearest jewellery store in St.Thomas and bought myself a lovely diamond ring :)

WOW, I normally say I will only spend $50 but ALWAYS manage to go well over that amount. (shhhh: don't tell my hubby) :)

There are many slots on cruises...and it's gambling for a reason...you never know your luck. My friend on our last cruise won a good bit almost every night in the casino, from $200 up to about $900. She was on fire, so good luck to you!
