Diamondbabydoll Posted January 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2006 I like to play the slots. I hear that there are quite a few machines to choose from and any denomination--mostly quarters. Have I heard correctly? Also..has anyone played and actually won on the ships? I am travelling on the Mariner in 3 weeks. Please let me know! Hoping for some jackpots! :p
phantom728 Posted January 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2006 You heard correctly. We were on Explorer last year and the casino was well outfitted with slots of various monetary amounts. We did not win on this trip:( , however my in-laws have won on a few of their cruises. Enjoy:)
Charlie2na Posted January 18, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2006 Yes.... you heard correctly, BUT........ I've had no luck. It seemed that on our first cruise , I could play for a couple hour before finally losing $40.00 (my limit per night) Not bad for a couple hours of entertainment. The last cruise, I was finished in about 20 minutes on the quarter machines..... I wonder if the cruise ships are held to the same standards as Vegas ? Iamthesea Posted January 18, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2006 I could play for a couple hour before finally losing $40.00 (my limit per night) WOW! $10 is my limit per night. At the first of the week, I do well and usually get back, plus some. Towards the end of the week, I always lose anything I have gained (unfortunately not the pounds :D ). sas80 Posted January 18, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 18, 2006 I used to work for a gaming company in Las Vegas. I actually put together those video gaming machines. (I'm a software engineer) When I get home tonight I will compose a post for everyone so that you know exactly what is going on with slot machines - video, video/real reel spinning machines (called hybrid machines) , and strictly reel spinning machines. I will also enlighten about those progressive jackpots you see as well. Bottom line is - choose a table game, learn it well, and play that! springtxbill Posted January 18, 2006 #6 Share Posted January 18, 2006 Was told by the casino manager one time that their slots pay out about 90% versus about 95% in Vegas.
FitzLA Posted January 18, 2006 #7 Share Posted January 18, 2006 I have actually always had good luck on cruise ship casinos. Last cruise I won enough to pay for our entire cruise.
bouhunter Posted January 18, 2006 #8 Share Posted January 18, 2006 Welcome to the forum dbdoll:) Here's another gaming question - do the nickle/quarter slots on RCCL use US coins or tokens? And if you win do they pay off in coins/tokens, or those paper tickets a lot of US casino's seem to be going too?
Captain Crunch Posted January 18, 2006 #9 Share Posted January 18, 2006 Mrs. Crunch won $250.00 jackpot on the slots, which helped subsidize the Captain's blackjack games.

And if you win do they pay off in coins/tokens, or those paper tickets a lot of US casino's seem to be going too? They use u.s. coins or bills. And if I remember correctly, the larger jackpots a casino worker would come over and give you a slip to take to the cashier. I think the smaller ones paid cash, but that could have changed by now I guess.
ckrobyn Posted January 18, 2006 #12 Share Posted January 18, 2006 I won $2000 on the first night of our Radiance cruise last February - I remember the machine, it was right inside the entrance and it was Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve....not sure if it was just me - but this machine appeared to be paying out all week. I took the money and headed to the nearest jewellery store in St.Thomas and bought myself a lovely diamond ring :)

Diamondbabydoll Posted January 18, 2006 Author #15 Share Posted January 18, 2006 What type of machines did you play to win that amount? Also what ship were you on to win it--so glad to hear about a winner!

kbt2 Posted January 18, 2006 #17 Share Posted January 18, 2006 There are many slots on cruises...and it's gambling for a reason...you never know your luck. My friend on our last cruise won a good bit almost every night in the casino, from $200 up to about $900. She was on fire, so good luck to you!
