rgaley Posted February 7, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2019 Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do for the day when we arrive back into Port? Our flight doesn't leave EWR till 8pm. Thanks!
njkruzer Posted February 7, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2019 Ship excursion might be a possibility. Taxi to ewr, check luggage and then head to NYC. Haven't done it, but believe there is a train that would enable to make the connection. Btw this assumes your airline let's you check luggage early. Rare Oceansaway17 Posted February 7, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 7, 2019 If you can change your flight to NYC and stay a few days that would be best. If not, then considering all the logistics of the area, I think it would be best to just go to airport and walk around and eat and watch people. Traffic everywhere would not really allow much sightseeing unless ship offered something.
ScottVV Posted February 28, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2019 I work right across the street from EWR and there's really nothing "Touristy" to do in the great city of Newark or Bayonne for that matter. The only thing you could do is uber or take the NJ Transit Bus to and from the city if you're really jones'n to do something. If your flight doesn't leave until 8pm, you certainly have plenty of time to sight see in the city, as well as you leave no later than 5pm... Traffic is crazy if you're traveling during the week and a bit better if you're here on a weekend.. Get to the Port Authority Bus Terminal on 8th Ave which is a good place to arrive to where you're pretty close to Times Square and the surrounding areas. I also believe you can rent a locker at Port Authority to stash your luggage - if it'll fit... Hope this helps!!
robtulipe Posted February 28, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2019 (edited) Tour Ellis and Liberty islands using Statue Ferry from Liberty State Park which is just north of Cape Liberty cruise terminal. There is contact info on the site linked to below to see if luggage storage is available. When we did this after one of our Anthem cruises we had our car's trunk to leave our luggage in. https://www.libertyellisfoundation.org/ferry-tickets Edited February 28, 2019 by robtulipe
