wanttocruisenow123 Posted February 10, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2019 Looking for anyone that has been on the Royal Princess. My husband and I are booked on the Royal Princess February 15th 2020 (on the Riviera Deck in cabin R733) on a Mexico cruise. I know, its a long time until the cruise unfortunately but would like some advice. We have been on 2 Princess cruises and thought the balconies were okay. Ever since we had an aft balcony on our Alaska cruise on Holland America we have been sold on that type of cabin! Has anyone been in that particular cabin? Is it worth it? Thanks in advance for any comments/advice.
EMS8 Posted February 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2019 We were in stateroom R735 in March 2018, so next door to the stateroom you have booked. The balcony was at least 100 sq ft. and a great view of the wake. There was kind of a lame loveseat in the stateroom but overall plenty of room. However, the bathroom is small, no larger than a regular balcony stateroom. We more than likely would not book another aft stateroom on a Royal class ship. We really like the mini suites on the hump in the Royal class ships.
Bubbs33 Posted February 11, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2019 What's the hump?
Daniel A Posted February 11, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2019 In our opinion, for Royal Class ships, most of the balconies on minisuites and balcony cabins are small as in postage stamp size. I cannot vouch for this personally, but I have heard that the aft balconies are significantly larger, but you should confirm this before taking my word for it. I just know from multiple cruises on Regal that the newer Royal Class ships have lost a lot of balcony space. You can fit two people but four people would be crammed in. I believe the "hump' is the part of the ship where some balconies extend a little further out. Sounds good, but the catch is that passengers on the Sea Walk and Sea View Bar can look right down into your balcony. There is really no privacy at all. Again, verify this, I've never stayed in the hump. Different cruisers have different tastes and priorities. I think the aft is fine if you want to spend a good deal of time on your own balcony.
