jean-lynd Posted February 16, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2019 The forecast is calling for 20-30 mph winds this week when we are there. Has anyone been there with that kind of winds? What kinds of problems could this cause? Thanks for your help!
Host Carolyn Posted February 17, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2019 (edited) Depending on where you are docking it could cause a missed port call. The winds are from the east next week I believe which is not the direction you want them to be. Some sailing excursions wouldn't go if they do dock.. My son loves on east end and has to go thru reef to get anywhere as house has no road access. They won't be going any place for a day or so if winds care sustained from east Edited February 17, 2019 by Host Carolyn
Stmar Posted February 24, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2019 Winds were a factor and our snorkel excursion took us on a long boat ride to a "protected" crowded location. Water was still rough and not as enjoyable as it could have been. Then we took a bus back to the port, captain said it would be too rough taking the boat back. PlanoDebbie Posted March 20, 2019 #4 Share Posted March 20, 2019 We were just there last week Wednesday and had a beautiful day at the beach. Right after our ship pulled out of port at 6 pm, we noticed our ship swaying quite a bit and lots of white caps on the water. Later that night they had to cancel some big Lido deck party because of the strong winds. We could barely open our balcony door at all. The next day, ships were not able to dock in Mahogany Bay and had to miss their port. So...bad winds could cause you to miss your port.
