Platinum gift blue coffee mug

I had gotten a dark blue coffee mug as a platinum gift some years ago... love the mug and quality, but it has a silver metal ring around the top and bottom that seems to leak water temporarily whenever i wash it.  Does anyone else have this issue, do those metal pieces come off ?  I haven't tried to pry them off, but obviously, water gets in there in the wash, I had just thought it would have been made with a good seal. ?

Mine has a screw on the bottom and you are able to take the cup apart for a good cleaning inside. I love mine and only drink water from it ice cubes stay frozen for a long time.

We have them too and love them, well I should say my grandchildren love them probably more.  Never had a problem with them
