Last minute booking

Recommended Posts

I've read some threads on here about people getting great prices when booking late.

However, does this still apply during the spring break season? We want to go on a specific ship and specific date, which is a 7 night caribbean cruise during spring break.

I'd like to get the best price possible, but am afraid that since its during such a popular time, we might not be able to get on. Suggestions?

If you want to go on a specific ship during a specific week, don't risk it. Ships tend to sell out especially during popular times like spring break, the holidays, and the summer. The way to take advantage of last minute deals is if you are flexible on dates and ships that you can go on. Since you want a specific ship and date, don't wait thinking there will be a deal.

If the cruise is during this spring break season, you might wait until right after final payment is due and then see if they run any new booking specials. Just be aware that final payment has already been due for most sailings in March. Don't wait any longer though or you may not get on the ship you want.

If it is for next spring break, book the ship you want now. Then monitor pricing. Most cruiselines will give you a refund if the price goes down after you book but before final payment. You just have to ask for it. Some will even give you a discount if the price goes down after final payment as long as the new price isn't for new bookings only.

Are you talking about spring break for this year? If that's the case, you can pretty much forget about finding a great price, or even an open cabin, at this late date, especially since you're limiting yourself to one ship. Most ships are sailing completely full, even when it's not spring break, so good luck in finding anything open so late in the game.
