PV Continued...

We got back on the ship and went to dinner. I had the iceberg salad, with the wrong dressing and no bleu cheese crumbles. But I had two of the tacos dorado for my main, which is some of the best food they serve.

Last time we were on this ship we got spoiled by the dining room staff. this time, not so much. Always had to ask for iced tea and extra butter.

We tried going to two different show in the theater this evening but found the theater to be too stuffy. So we enjoyed the views from our secret deck.

Thursday, Valentine's Day

Look all the kids joined us for breakfast on the Lido!

I just realized I suck at taking pictures on sea days. Guess I had too much fun to stop and snap a photo.

Anyway today started out with another craft session. D&V joined us this time. Nadia remembered us. It was fun, we made valentines. After crafts we spent the rest of the morning in the casino. It's always nice in the morning, before the place fills in with smoke.

The kids wanted to play bingo, so that was the afternoon activity for most of us. The hubby returned to the casino where he actually had a winning streak. Nobody in my group won at bingo. Well grandkid #5 did in a way. Some how the charge for her cards got billed to Kid #2, rather than to her account.

Tonight was the second formal night. All the ladies got flowers at dinner. My steward would put the flower to use later. Dinner was a crab cake, stuffed mushrooms, filet mignon and a special valentine's parfait for dessert.

That night we caught Tim young in the Punchliner club. That guy is funny!

Friday...Last day at sea

It's okay if you are crying at this point. I was too.

The day started off with US trivia. There was a very bad question involving a war. It was suggested that the question be tossed by Carnival HQ and I agree. After the trivia was another genius test. As I can't spell the word genius with out spellcheck I figured it would be good for a few laughs. Well it turns out that it was the same test that we had on Monday.  I figured I see how good my memory was. Turns out not as good as the two other people I recognized from Monday's session. And they were going to claim the prize. Well that was until the person who ran Monday's session stopped in and outed them.

After the drama that is trivia we wondered over to the casino, where I actually had a winning streak. Got most of the money back I lost for the week. Then we grabbed a final lunch at the deli...those hot dogs are the best! After that we found the t-shirt sale. Normally 2 for $20. So I choose two shirts out of the three I liked. I went around to pay and the guy says, "They are actually 3 for $20 today." Score! I went back and rescued the cast off shirt.

We then spent a small fortune on pictures the kids took the previous evening. I am happy to say they are already hanging on my wall. Nothing motivates my hubby like over paying for pictures.

Today was rocky. The ship was trying to outrun a storm. My Bonnine stash took a hard hit.

After lunch we went to watch the kids "bust a move" in the atrium. I ordered a kiss on the lips from a bartender that actually blew me a kiss. She was a hoot. We sat and listened to the music. Once the rocking got to us we went back to take a nap.

After nap time we caught up with the kids at the liquor tasting before dinner. We took a stroll through the casino and did something we've never done before, cashed out!

Dinner that night was steamed mussels followed by steak tacos, no dessert. We had dinner in the aft dinning room and one by one people went back to their room because we were rocking terribly. I'd bet half the dining room was empty by the end of dinner.

The pool on the lido deck turned into a wave pool. they had it drained down and closed by the time we got up there to watch Small Foot with the grandkids.

Debarkation and heading home:

Saturday came and thankfully the ship was in port. That rocking the last day was some thing else. We got up and had breakfast. Turned our phone off airplane mode and ate while they went off like the machines in the casino that hit for other people.

Eventually our tag number was called and we made our way down to leave. We got goodbye hugs from Nadia. Back in the dome we found our luggage at the front corner of the luggage area. We were then told that we'd have to walk all the way back to the back of the building to join the line that ended just on the other side of the roped off opening we were near.

V was barely walking at this point and I had no interest in going all the way back out. We found a porter and short-cut the entire process. Best use of $20 ever.

We stopped to gather the group photo and then called our ride. They were there in 5 minutes. The driver then delivered us to the door of our car and loaded the bags into the car for us. Great service!

We filled the gas tank on our way out of town and stopped for the worst sub sandwiches ever. I am not a fan of Jersey Mike's.  i would have preferred in and out. But all of a sudden D, who usually loves burgers, refused to eat at there.

Anyway we ventured back home with a pit-stop at Salvation Mountain and Slab city. Pictured below.

Now that the ride is over and I'm back home with a good case of the cruise ship crud here are some final thoughts:

That last sea day was so rocky that I'm still feeling it three days later.

Long Beach is freaking cold this time of year.

Two grandkids figured out roulette and had a good time in the casino.

We lacked truly hot water in our shower all week. It got better after the hotel director stopped and asked us how thing were going. But that only lasted for one night.

I'd still love to do the version of this cruise that stops in PV overnight.

I still don't care much for Cabo.

The cheapest shopping was by far in Mazatlan.

Just now, LuckyStar said:

Thanks for the review.  My sister and I were on this ship last April as well and I must say it was my favorite cruise, so far.  Loved the ship and the T-pool.  We also had a spa room so we felt very spoiled.

Thanks!

One more thing, if you were the person in Cabin 1005. I get that you love your cabin mate. But I did not need to hear, "But baby I love you!" about 100 times between midnight and 1 am as you fought. Also thank you for keeping that foolishness down to only the first night....you had us worried for a hot minute.

I don't think it's so much that Long beach is cold this time of year, it's more the fact that most of California has been hit by storms and cold fronts the past month+. I live in NorCal and it's been ridiculously cold and wet here for the past month+.

Glad you guys had a good trip! I love the Splendor.

I'm pretty sure the craft sessions were at 9am.

Thanks.

I have another question. Which pier did you dock at in Puerto Vallarta? Was it the one directly across the Liverpool Mall or at pier 1 where the round building is/was?
