Diamond to AUS / NZ on 2/25

Hi - I am thinking of booking the Diamond Princess to AUS / NZ on 2/25. I've cruised many times, but never to AUS / NZ. This is a big step and I want to make sure I do the right thing. I posted this on the Princess thread, but I'm hoping to get better responses here.

 

+ Is a cruise a good way to see AUS / NZ for the first time? I know I'll only get a flavor of the area, and am wondering if I'd be better off just staying on land...

 

+ What is the general consensus for air - book thru Princess or separately? I live in Philly but have easy access to NYC airports.

 

I'm sifting through all the postings, but thought a direct approach would be quicker and easier.

 

Any help or other general advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
