Rare Shippy Posted February 23, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2019 We are slot players on every cruise we go on. I would say moderate in the fact I do not play high machines but frequent the casino a lot. We get offers from all the casino clubs but they are usually ones we cannot/or choose not to use. Limited to certain ships/certain sailings and certain category cabins. We got an email offer from the MSC casino club last month for 30% off a cruise and some casino cash. Only catch was it had to be booked by the end off this month. Time was running out so I called the casino club a few days ago. I was really quite shocked when I was told ANY cruise ANY category cabin and I could use ANY travel agent I wanted and then they would adjust the price. That was definitely worth some research. So I had a YC3 cabin held for an October cruise with an internet agency we had used many times before. They were offering prepaid gratuities and $500. OBC. I called MSC & gave them the booking number. They not only took off the 30% but also another %5 percent for our black card status...we got that with their status match promotion with our Royal Caribbean card. Since the price was lowered so much, the agency readjusted their OBC to $300. because it is based on the final price of the cruise. They still included their tips. Needless to say, I just put the down payment on to firm up the booking.

We could just not pass it by. We would never pay the full amount for a YC3 even though it is worth it. I think you basically have 4 days left. I am sure when this expires they will come out with another off although i cannot believe it would be as generous. let us know what they say ! dlbosfo Posted February 25, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2019 (edited) @Shippy are you able to share more information? Could you give a sense for how long of a gaming is needed to trigger 30% off coupon and at what denomination? Was it all slots or some mix of slots/vp/table games. Also would anyone have any experience playing Video Poker onboard Seaside? Does it get treated differently than the slot machines as far as comps are concerned due to a possible lower hold on the VP? It has been my experience on all cruiselines to hear that the easiest way to get points is through the regular slots. I do not know MSCs criteria. I know on Royal Caribbean you need 2100 points on a 7 day cruise to qualify for their club or about 300 a day. Some days I do not play, others I play more to even things out. The most important thing to do is ALWAYS put your sea card in. Remember it is NOT what you win or lose...it is the amount that goes through the machine, So even if I think I am only going to put in $20. and move on....I put the card in. If I have no luck, probably only a point. But if I have luck and wind up playing for an hour, I get lots of points on just that $20. Unfortunately that also goes for $100 :O) I play the penny slots but of course you know they take a lot of pennys. I max at 200 ($2.) I played most every day for awhile on our 7 day Seaside cruise last year. I got an email from them with the 30% off AND $500. in casino cash. My husband did not start playing until Thursday. He also only does slots. He got an email for the 30% off and $200. in casino cash. Of course when I booked you only get 1 30% off but it is for the total of the entire cruise. I was told that we will both get our casino cash offers.
Rare Beamafar Posted February 25, 2019 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2019 You need to get 1200 points on a 7 night cruise on MSC and 2000 points on cruises of >9 nights (IIRC). You go to the cashier in the casino with your voucher which will be exchanged for CASH for the indicated amount (originally it was added to your onboard account as OBC). I am not worried about it because that is what Royal C. had done in the past. When we went onboard, we just went to the casino and they had a record of it and actually gave us the full cash amount. I do not care if they give it to us that way or as machine credit..
dlbosfo Posted February 27, 2019 #9 Share Posted February 27, 2019 (edited) Question re. the 30% off coupon given by the casino club: Does the coupon work on an existing reservation? Say you get the coupon in February 2019 and want to apply it to a booking made in later part of last year say December 2018 - is that possible? Or does the coupon have to be applied to a booking made after the coupon is issued? Edited February 27, 2019 by dlbosfo

No they did not extend it but my wife had a letter from the casino which was good for 9 months. So we used it to book a cruise in June in the YC. Also got 10% additional credit for military discount. I have read everyone’s comments on what it takes to get the discount. I have no idea but I did not give my card to anyone as I play the tables. On the last 2 days they really suggested I use it so I did and they quit bugging me. When I got home I got an email from the casino with the offer. My wife’s offer was in a letter in our room on the last night. She plays the slots regularly but not enough coin in to generate a lot of points, who knows how it is calculated. PompeySailor Posted March 17, 2019 #11 Share Posted March 17, 2019 (edited) 1200 points is all that is needed to get the 30% off. We managed to reach that on the first night of our recent cruise. Slots Basically 1 point is awarded for $2.50 play through the slot machine. But some of the slots award at a slightly lower or higher point return relative to wager. THIS does not mean you need to drop $2800 to get 1200 points. its about finding a good machine that keeps you there over time, with a steady return. Or just play max Bet $25 on some machines and see that 1200 points and a visit from the casino host very quickly. Tables calculated by the Casino Manager, we were playing BJ at $50 or greater a hand and roulette at $100 or greater a spin. We just put our card in a slot after a table session to check our table play was being monitored and added and typically after a few hours, we could see the additional points. You also get play money, which can be redeemed using your room card, use it or lose it, we had over $300 in play money, which has to be taken in $25 increments. this can be completed on one machine using your pin and card, just multiple transactions. We are converted Casino Royale Royal Caribbean casino VIP players, and found MSC casino program to be much more transparent and rewarding. Happy Days! Good luck in the casino Edited March 17, 2019 by PompeySailor

Only on 7 night cruises (you need to get 2000 points on longer itineraries). Get a free cruise when you reach 9999 points (12999 on longer cruises IIRC - I'm open to correction on that). As I've posted on another thread, it didn't actually cost me anything on one cruise to reach 1200 points; at the time that I did, I was €100 up. Agree with all of your info 9999, was what Giancarlo said we needed for the 1st level of cabin, 30,000 for a suite 45,000 for YC this all based on our 7 night experience
Rare EngIceDave Posted March 17, 2019 #14 Share Posted March 17, 2019 I went on Divina about two years ago. I jokingly refer to myself as a “degenerate gambler,” as I do enjoy it and it’s relaxing, I lot slots and high limit slots. I’ll take a few thousand dollars with me to gamble on a cruise. So while on Divina the casino manager gave me a certificate to use on any cruise within a year.Well, with my busy schedule, it expired and thought nothing of it. Come last December when someone at MSC contacts me and essentially says “if you book by Jan 1, we’ll honor your certificate. Any cruise or ship you want.”So, looking around, wife and I found the Armonia to Cuba cruise.Got hooked up with an Aurea Suite. Don’t drink, so free soda, juice and coffee stuff is good with us. So, I can’t complain about their casino offers. The casino on Armonia May be small, but I’m sure I’ll find some place to camp out in it and and spend some time (and money)Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Rare Captain-John Posted March 18, 2019 #15 Share Posted March 18, 2019 Thanks folks, gives me a ballpark idea of how it works and how points accrue - I was asking this in another thread when this one reawakened. Hope lady luck blesses me on Meraviglia.....
