Where would you cruise for most scenic on-ship views?

Dubai is the only other one we've used. Perhaps some of the other Asian or Middle Eastern airports have them, but we only ever fly with Singapore Airlines or Emirates, so I have no personal knowledge of the facilities at the hubs of other airlines.

Phenomenal responses thanks everyone! I really didn't expect so many people to help out.

I had a chat to Mum last night and showed her this thread, and while there are many incredible options there (I can certainly see an Alaskan cruise or something near the Bay of Kotor in my future at least!), Mum thought an NZ cruise made a lot of sense.

There are some beautiful, good value ships that sail there (Ovation and the Solstice/Eclipse for example), and we can go outside of school holidays, dropping the price to considerably less than going overseas.

With unlimited funds I'd look at the Seabourn or Ponant options, but they're pretty comfortably outside our price range, and also quite long cruises too. Despite my presence here Mum and I aren't massive cruise people, Mum has done a fairly El Cheapo to the Pacific Islands and I'm still to do my first on MSC Bellissima in May. So we'd probably prefer something 8-14 days anyway.

Good job, whatever you end up choosing, you will love it. The Solstice is my favourite ship but then I don't really have a ship I dislike as yet. The Ovation is an amazing ship as well but then your mum may not necessarily enjoy many of the features that the ship has (ifly, flowrider, etc) unless she likes people watching.

Cheers. I think there's definitely a chance Ovation may be a bit over the top in some feature that we won't worry too much about. But the Solarium area, Two70 and Casino will be appealing, as would some of the interesting Specialty restaurants onboard like Wonderland.

Have you been on Majestic Princess? Looks lovely and new with a nice NZ itinerary (or even a Tasmanian one if we want something shorter). The Enclave Spa looks amazing (for a fee) and the food overall seems a stepup from Ovation.

Solstice has a great deal including drinks package and wifi thrown in balcony rooms, though when you throw in a night or two accom and flights it's neither here nor there. Some great options.
