What to see in Pisco/San Martin, Chile?

Hello - We are going to be stopping in Pisco/San Martin, Chile on our March Regal Princess Cruise. Princess is offering a number of LONG tours that we don't want to sign up for. Has anyone been to this port recently? Are there places to walk or taxi to that are not too far from where the ship docks? Is it fairly safe to wander around on our own during daylight hours? Suggestions? Thank you!

Christine

We just got back from that area in March. A trip to the Pisco factory was most enjoyable with lunch and of course Pisco drinks. You will find the area safe but I would go with the ship tours. The area is most beautiful and lovely people you will meet everywhere. Enjoy this time you have. Happy Sailings...Leslie Swiger:) PS Have a pisco sour for me please.:)
