steve333 Posted March 16, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2019 After receiving a winter2021pre-registration on Iona we have found a 2 week Canaries round trip from Southampton in January 2012 we are interested in,as the Iona doesn't launch until may this year we are undecided which cabin location to choose,we usually like to go midship and as the Iona has 16 decks we would look to go on deck 9, which would be preferable, port or starboard? terrierjohn Posted March 16, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2019 Over half of deck 9 will have public areas of the promenade deck below it, which might result in noise in some areas. We prefer to have cabins above and below, so deck 10 would be preferable, but if you are happy with somewhere a little forward of midships, this area will be above the promenade cabins. Since the lower decks will be close to the wide promenade deck you might find that port side will be preferable, assuming that P&O allow smoking only on the starboard side. Hi John, thanks for your thoughts, looking at the deck plans midship on deck 9 is above a cafeteria around cabin 9425 which we have asked for and will be confirmed at point of release for sale by P and O 8am Monday, so won't cause us any concern(we generally only use our cabins between midnight and 7am then evenings to shower/change for mealtime),deck 9 is almost halfway up as there are 19 decks and not 16 as in my original post so midship/midheight for hopefully the most stable part of the ship as we are travelling in January so seas could be rough. boogybaby Posted March 19, 2019 #5 Share Posted March 19, 2019 Hi we have also booked Iona sailing on 16th January, we chose an aft balcony because we find it so relaxing watching the wake. Janice
