Bob, how did you like Malta as a port of call? I lived there about 10 years ago, and your beautiful photos make me nostalgic. I would like for my parents to accompany me on a cruise there. In some ways, the smaller countries or cities seem more appropriate for cruising than larger ones like Italy or Spain.

Thx for the kind words everyone. Should have the shots of the Naples area up soon.

Hey Catherine, my best friend grew up in Malta, and goes back with is wife for a few weeks every few years, so we had some good prep done. It was the most fascinating of all the ports, just so much history, a whole midaeval lifestyle preserved. A cruise stop doesn't do it justice, we missed so much even though we did Valetta pretty well and Mdina. We didn't have time to even see the twin city of Rabat beside Mdina, the catacombs, churches, etc. or Codorova (sp?), the tri-city across the bay from Valetta, or the exotic nightlife up the coast, forget the name, starts with S (Sliena?)
Good beer, lovely people, interesting shopping, "exotic" buses :-)) loved it all.

Had some queries about shots of the Mt. Vesuvius volcano, so I added one, at the same link:
