Beagleluv6107 Posted April 3, 2019 Author #28 Share Posted April 3, 2019 Ok, on with the report... Day 2 Continued We decided to go exploring the ship for awhile but shame on me I only took this picture. We made our way back to our cabin before the Muster Drill. Our friends didn’t get their sign and sail cards in their mailbox yet, so they stored their backpacks in our cabin. Our muster location was in the Sapphire dining room. I love having muster where I can sit and relax and not get squished up against a wall because I arrived first. After that, it was time for Sail Away!!! Yippee!! Beagleluv6107 Posted April 3, 2019 Author #30 Share Posted April 3, 2019 We goofed off until time for dinner. We had the early seating. DH had shrimp cocktail, tuna, and fried shrimp. I just had the Mahi-Mahi. I should have also had the WCMC but I was afraid it would be too much. Sorry for the blurry pictures. My camera can take the best and the worst pictures and I won’t know until I load them onto the computer. DH ordered a margarita at dinner which he never does. I ordered another Funship. One of my friends said, “she’ll be done after this”. I thought what??? He’s crazy. I’m fine! On with the party!
Beagleluv6107 Posted April 4, 2019 Author #31 Share Posted April 4, 2019 I did forget about this drink I had earlier in the day. We were at the Blue Iquana on deck 10. It was called a Carnival Paloma. It had tequila and grapefruit juice. It was very sour so I had two sips and made my poor husband drink it. Around our area there's a drink growing in popularity called the Grapefruit Crush. It has fresh squeezed grapefruit so thats why I thought I might like this. Beagleluv6107 Posted April 4, 2019 Author #32 Share Posted April 4, 2019 We made our way to the Red Frog Pub down on deck 5. I had remembered reading they had some type of snack there. It was fried chick peas. Oh, they were heavenly. I think all that not eating all day caught up to me because I devoured this bowl. (if your following along my timeline here... yes I pretty much just left dinner.) It was 8 o’clock and that was it for me. I guess my friend was right after all. In my defense though… I went back to the room and unpacked and watched a show on my Netflix. I didn’t exactly crawl into bed until about 9:30. I have no idea when DH wandered in, but I heard the next day they had a blast at the Red Frog. A singer named Travis played a few sets and they all loved him.

Rare georgiacat Posted April 4, 2019 #37 Share Posted April 4, 2019 I am enjoying your review and pictures. I looked up your Hawaiian review on NCL since we plan on that in a few years. It was good. What is your comparison of the ships between POA and Carnival ships in general. We have not sailed NCL but are familiar with Carnival.

We have not sailed NCL but are familiar with Carnival. Hey Georgiacat.... Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!! I am dancing around my living room right now. Someone cared enough to find my best. LOL That is so cool. It's a little hard to compare that cruise to any in the Caribbean. At the time, they had no drink package so it was pricey to have any fun at all. Which was OK because I packed that adventure so full of tours we didn't have time. We like having an assigned dinner time so that was different. Their breakfast buffet beat all but the dining room wasn't as good as Carnival because they don't rely on it as much. NCL really push the paid dining options. The POA also didn't cater to daytime fun because everyone is off the boat on tours so I totally understood I couldn't compare that experience to anything else. DH is very partial to Carnival but I would try any line any time. :-)
Beagleluv6107 Posted April 6, 2019 Author #43 Share Posted April 6, 2019 Day 3 – Sea Day (this pic is in honor of Guy's Burger Joint. I "assumed" that would be my quest for the day) OK, on with the review: Since I went to bed at 9:30, I was up at 2am and couldn’t fall back to sleep. I grabbed my phone and logged into the hub app. I bought the $84 internet plan so I could search the web, email friends, and text any family members with an iPhone. DH did sign up for the $5 hub app to text but as a group we never used it all week. Everybody had an internet plan so we could text using the Wi-Fi and our iPhones. Everyone was gathering at 8:30 for breakfast. There was no sign of my DH stirring so I wandered up to the buffet and grabbed a green apple and a bagel. I am very prone to sea sickness... but try so hard not to use the patch. I usually feel lousy on the patch. I ate out on the balcony and took a few ginger pills. In no time at all, I was feeling great with nothing to do. I hit the Red Frog up on deck 10 by the pool.
Beagleluv6107 Posted April 6, 2019 Author #44 Share Posted April 6, 2019 It was going to be a glorious day at sea. I went back to the room at 10 and DH finally moved. He joined me on the balcony, and we sat and talked about what I missed the night before. Apparently the singer Travis from the Red Frog Pub really put on a show the night before. The whole gang loved him. He took requests and got the whole crowd going. My dear hubby (that NEVER stays out) had a great time. Remember the margarita at dinner and the nasty drink I forced him to endure for me? Not to mention, he had a few Corona's! teehee Suddenly, a random worker opened up our balcony and walked on thru. He left all the balcony doors open, so they kept swinging in the breeze. DH could not take all that banging, I could tell he had a little too much fun the night before! We went to sea day brunch, he had the salmon Eggs Benedict and I had the salmon. He didn’t eat much.
Beagleluv6107 Posted April 6, 2019 Author #45 Share Posted April 6, 2019 After brunch we came back to the room but our Steward Luki was right in the middle of cleaning. We took a walk around the boat and up by the serenity area. The one thing we noticed was there wasn’t a single chair to be found… anywhere! I have a friend that loves to lay out and I was worried she wouldn’t find a spot. I later found out she walked the entire ship twice looking for one chair and did not find anything until about 1pm. She just happened to catch someone getting up and leaving. DH laid back down and there was a knock at the door. They were delivering his platinum chocolates. I ate a few while checking out the Funtimes. There was a lip sync battle going on up on deck 10. I left DH to recover in the cabin and I went with our friends and sat at the Blue Iguana to watch the show. I don’t remember the name of the lady that won but Sexy Chad won for the men. Why do I remember Sexy Chad? Because he had his name written on the rear side of his speedo. Sexy Chad you are my hero. I even got a picture with him after he won. What a star!!! I reallly want to post that pic. 😂 We worked up an appetite watching that spectacle, so we all got burritos.
Beagleluv6107 Posted April 6, 2019 Author #46 Share Posted April 6, 2019 DH finally came out and joined us around 3. The buffet and the burrito place were closed but Guys Burgers was still serving so he had a burger to try and make himself feel better. It was elegant night, so I went back to the cabin to get ready. DH had the prime rib and I had the striped sea bass. I thought I had a pic of the prime rib but cant find it. After dinner we changed clothes and headed down to the Reg Frog hoping that Travis was playing, and he was. The bartenders at the Red Frog (Patrick, Jay and Lorena) were terrific all week. They took great care of us and knew us all my name and occupation. Here’s a few special drinks they came up with for my friends. We watched Travis and headed for some midnight pizza. Beagleluv6107 Posted April 8, 2019 Author #50 Share Posted April 8, 2019 Day 4 – Amber Cove I was really looking forward to this port. I had never been and it looked like a lot of fun. Spoiler alert… it was a really cool place and probably my favorite port of this cruise. My day started off around 6:30am. We made our way to a bloody Mary around 8. We grabbed burritos for breakfast. One thing had me nervous… it was raining while we were eating. Luckily, we were sheltered but it concerned me for our day. I think our time in port was 8am to 4pm. We had no set plans, so after breakfast we went back to the cabin. The curtain was open, and the worker came back thru our balcony. I was like ok, this is the second day in a row.... how about a little notice. Turns out, we did get a notice about this day, I just never read my paperwork. PSA here, do not be like me and read your paperwork. Thankfully, I was doing nothing and fully dressed but that could have been embarrassing if I wasn’t!!
